From what I read, oxidation on silver is actually only affecting little on the electrical conductivity of Silver. This is different from copper and other metal. Copper oxide conductivity will reduced substatially. Aluminum oxide is even a good isolator (at the room temperature).

Based on my memory with with ccc (continuous copper cast/single crystal copper), not as ear/headphone cables but for interconnect, they have unique sound characteristic which tend to sound like "n" shape. Gradual roll of at both ends of spectrum. I never tried silver though... (very expensive

Thanks for the info!
If there is any lab study of how material affect sound quality, that would be awesome

Interesting what you all had to write about the flc 8s, it looks like an interesting eim for me.

What's wrong with the eph-100? I use them with my fiio x5 and am very happy with its sound signature, musicality, and comfort.

However I am looking for eim's that are a step higher in sound quality and am concidering the flc 8s. I look for wider soundstage and more details without being over analytic.

Can you explain why the eph-100 were not for you. I have narrow ear canals and use the smallest silicon tips provide by Yamaha. Would the flc 8s be a good choice for me?

emklap: Despite claims of EPH100 having great soundstage, great bass, great highs, etc., I found them rather boring to be honest and sold mine. That's just my opinion and is not meant to invalidate other people's opinions. Something like FLC 8S is definitely a step up IMHO. Maybe others who've heard both can comment, as well.

all999: Not sure why Forrest isn't here. I know he knows about Head-Fi. I'll see if he wants to join the gang!

I not trying to say the Yamaha s#cks. But sometimes, we just grow out of it or should I say I find a better sounding IEM? As the mid of the Yamaha is too laid back (I'm a sucker for forward vocal/mids) , treble doesn't have enough sparkle for my taste. The cable does tangle a lot. But sometimes I still miss it's isolation. I would say it would be an improvement. But Isolation wise, Yamaha wins.

Just wondering, is blue Forest's favorite color? I notice the cable, IEM, interior of the box, filter case. All of them is blue.

I'm a vocal/midhead too. FLC8 handles them very well, as does the SE846, and CKR9/10. What else do you have?

I bet blue is undisputably his favorite colour lol. The old FLC8 packaging is all black.

^ I own the CKR10 before Likes it. But it fail on me on the 2nd week :/
I like the sound of 846 but couldn't afford it. :(

Oh man that sucks. CKR10 lends a full bodied warmth to its sound. Very captivating. But I sold it because the rolled-off treble just didn't do it for me.
