I wonder why Sony chooses to delay the U.S. release?

It's been delayed? Wonder if the earthquake has anything to do with it. Didn't sony have to temporarily close a factory?

I'm speaking of the delay between Japanese and U.S. product releases, they do it with everything.

I am defenetely going to get these but the wait is killing me! i hope that when they do come out the price does drop! AND! from what i've been reading it might be from 120~200 yes (US Dollas) < [these are just random numbers plz don't believe anything i say] WTH just happened? nvm i fixed it =D anywho.... thanks again!.... sorry for writing so much got excited...

I think the XB700 is a MUST have if you already own the XB500 and thinking of XB1000. The two are VERY different IMO.

Did you ever try the XB500? I don't think you've mentioned it if you did at least. Don't think it's what you'd like though based on the reviews of XB1000/700 so I'd save the cash. :p XB700 doesn't necessarily have to be better for every1 compared to XB500 though but those two are also very different from each other so it'll come down to personal taste.

I paid $350 delivered from Japan.

No, I didn't get the XB500. I have the Beyer T-1 and HD800 coming next week so I'm tapped out for this month.

well i was considering getting the XB700 but i did read alot of your reviews and seeing as how the XB700 are more for hip-hop and straight fowardness. I would much rather get the XB1000 since all i listen to is eletronic music and i really want to hear that wide range and two giant subwoofers smacking my head around. so in that sense Thanks for the XB700 comparison to the XB1000 it made my decision easier to make.

I haven't heard the XB1000 yet but I think the 700s are still great with bass heavy electronica.

I really want to see a xb1000 vs. Pro 900 comparison in the future, since they both seem to be beastly for trance/electronica.

I just joined after lurking for a few months.  I'm admittedly a basshead...

Darn you, head-fi.  Right before I go to Afghanistan and I get the hi-fi bug.  Now, I have a set of XB-700's coming to me, sight unseen, and because of all the reviews and hype, I now have to be the first person in Afghanistan with these.

Hopefully it's worth the $350 after shipping to an APO.

Soon as I get settled, I'm getting a Schiit amp.  Will a FiiO E7 be enough for these things for power or will I need more?

If you bought the XB700 then no it's not.  Unless you bought seven pairs.

Well, I ordered a set of XB700's a month and a half ago for around $75, but they were unable to ship from that vendor on Amazon to APO, so they had to go home first, then to Afghanistan.  They still aren't here, but the hype around the XB1000's is just so bad right now, that I can't avoid it.  This review really sealed the deal; so I bought the ONLY set of XB1000's on Amazon.com (those were what were $350.  I like big soundstage; my music goes from trance/dubstep, to Björk, to Led Zepellin, Sia, Seatbelts, the Pillows, all the way to LMAO.  Most of the music I listen to isn't such high quality that a $2000 rig would be done justice by it, but it's enough to know that when I have used higher quality components, the sound has improved drastically.

Sadly, the Army is full of Beats and Skullcandies.  I make it a point not to badmouth them, but it's a silent burden to hear my former squad leader say things like "Yeah, my Skullcandies (Skullcrushers)... they're the best thing ever for metal.  So you can have all that."  I want to get him some Grados or something.

Out here, with the dust and heat, I don't think tube-rolling would be a good idea.  I'm gonna get an Asgard and then when I get back over the pond, I'll try more things out.
