@Kiats, I saw in an earlier post that you had access to the new Heaven VII. Did you have a chance to listen to the VII & give us impressions on how it compares to the Lab 1? Thanks

It was at fhe HK hifi show and it was a short listen. I thought it was similar in that it was going for a lush sound. Of course, the chaps who manned the counters warned me that it is just a prototype and it was still being tuned by Final Audio. I didn't have access to a Lab1 then and so couldn't do an A/B comparison.

Reckon it would be close btw the VII and the Lab1. With the law of diminishing returns, it wouldn't be night and day. But given the sentimental significance of Lab1 being Takai san's last masterpiece, doubt FAD would try to replicate the SQ, or at least I try to convince myself lol

It may be similar but it won't be the same. Talking to TomScy, he let on that the two don't even share the same underlying technology. The Heavens utilize a single custom Sonion 2300 while the LAB uses two 2600s. He also told me that one was closer to neutral (VII) while the other was bassier (VIII)

Currently I'm using the Zero Audio Tenore but I'm looking to upgrade. Can anyone compare the FAD Heaven V to the Tenore? I like the Tenore SQ wise but I think its a little too polite and separation isn't great.

Also, is there anywhere to get the V non-aging at a reasonable price? The cheapest I see is $280 whereas the Aging version can be had for $235.

Yeah, I would be interested in that too.

Why not the Aging? Personally, I like the idea of the natural brass housing developing a patina of its own over time. I tend to develop sentimental and emotional connections with my stuff, but then again I'm an idiot haha.

In addition, bodily fluid from a normal usage causes oxidation of the brass housing, leaving gooey green residue underneath the ear sleeve. Users must pay attention to any possibilities of the residue getting into the driver

^ I can attest that this is true. You can somewhat mitigate this by rubbing a bit of oil on the barrel and nozzle.

But yea, you need to keep an eye out and clean it. But maybe that's what they meant by it will change in sound over time haha.
