Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone

I have a Sennheiser HDV820 DAC and HD800S headphone rig, I listen to a broad range of music but bass-driven (ie hip-hop, electronic) is a preference. I enjoy the detail and soundstage of the HD800S but it is lacking low end for me. Hypothetically, were I to buy D8000 Pro cans what would the main differences be?

Hello to all,
I have had the D8000Pro for a few weeks now. I listen to them on a Shiit Magnius amp (balanced input and output) and a Nad M51 DAC.
The result is very good but I think that I could gang a little more softness on the highs which are sometimes a little too forward.
I would like to know what you would advise me as balanced amp (tube or SS) in the 500 to 1500 € range?
I've found the following amps: Violectric V280, xDuoo TA-20 or TA-30. Any opinion?

Another question: which XLR4 or 4,4mm cable could I use other than the final Audio which is much too expensive (budget 100€ max)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

The HD800S is among the worst headphones for Bass driven music.

The Final will do a lot better in that regard, but I never heard them myself so better wait for others to chime in.

For Bass driven music the Audeze range, Empyrean, Arya and T+A headphones are A LOT better suited.

GsX Mini is one of the best SS amps in that price Region.
Well Milo is also great.
Both coul be slightly above budget depending on tax.

Below that the Jotunheim 2 is huge value for money

Keep your eyes peeled for a second hand iFi Pro iCan, a very good candidate.

I must also say that the DX300 does a fantastic job driving the D8000 Pro. Pairing is excellent.

Before getting the Pro iCan, I had a Jotunheim v1 and a Magni 3. Found both very good at their price point, but a bit too forward and unrefined in the upper frequencies. The iFi was a very satisfying upgrade.

I've only tried GSX amps at shows, but had the impression that they offered a neutral / bright signature. Perhaps not what you're looking for.

How would you compare them to your Empyrean? I know the D8000pro is technically better but do they offer a similar level of musical engagement?

Empyrean is more comfortable, good for any kind of music but not the best of all , if you only want ONE handphone and you are a multiple types music lover, I recommend Empyrean for you. D8000Pro very close to Abyss AB-1266 but with a little more on mid, both with plentiful details and rich sub bass, wide and deep sound stage. However D8000Pro better on Jazz and 1266 good for symphony.

Thanks for your helpful comment. "if you only want ONE handphone and you are a multiple types music lover, I recommend Empyrean for you" That is pretty much who I am at the moment. But I am still curious to try the D8000pro.

Thanks for your post,
GSX Mini and Well Milo are not for my budget as they would come with taxes...
The Jotunheim 2 could be a good track, but the reviews I've read about it don't make me want it as much as amps like the V280 or the Burson soloist 3x.

Salut Simon !
I should soon receive a competitor of the IFI iCAN Pro, the xDuoo XD-05BAL...
Your description af the Shiit amps is exactly what I dislike with my Magnius !
I'm looking for something a little warmer but with excellent detail. That's why I'm also looking at the TA-20 or TA-30.

I see you have a set of the Pioneer SE-Master1's in your stable. How would you compare the sound of the D8000 Pro's to the SE-Master1's, thanks?

I have ordered a pair of D8000 Pros in silver on a 30 day home trial, so will be easily able to compare them with my HD800s setup.

It does scare me to think how much these things cost, and if I decide to keep I will be selling my HD800/HDV820 setup as I cant afford to keep both, and running the D8000 Pros from my Astell & Kern SP1000.

I was torn between these and the Focal Utopia's (I have not heard these yet) and hope I have made the right choice which came down to my favour towards bass-driven music.

Can you share where to order a home trail pair of D8000 Pro? Thanks!

Well to be clearer, I have paid outright for them but are returnable within 30 days provided of course I look after them. I bought them from Audio Affair, should arrive early next week. I would love to be able to do a side by side with the D8000 Pros and the Utopia's, but given what I have read it seems like the Final's are more towards my musical taste.
