Dear friends,

The agreement of cooperation between FiiO and ViPER's Audio has expired, so we're afraid that the new version of FiiO Music will no longer have the embedded ViPER Effect plugin. However, we've been working hard on the dynamic EQ and will try our best to develop more audio effects.
If you have purchased the ViPER Effects and would like to continue using it, you may download the apk file of the old version, copy it to the player, and then install it through ES File Explorer (this will overwrite the new version).

Best regards

@FiiO
And what about m3u8 playlists and lossy and DSD gapless?

Feb 2, 2019 at 6:42 AM Post #5,344 of 6,207
Yes, loss of m3u8 is a deal breaker. I have uninstalled back to the old version until m3u8 works again. I only use fiio music for playlists, Neutron for everything else.

I downloaded usb audio player pro which sounds excellent and supports m3u8, but it won't scan USB storage into the library, which is bizarre.

Let me get this right ......
  1. You left your 6 yo playing around with the X7ii
  2. Knowing your child had been playing with the X7ii, you plugged your IEMs in - and didn't check the volume?
  3. And this is FiiO's fault somehow .........

Let me ask you if your wife demands that you drop what you are doing right _now_ and come to her, do you? because if you do, it is likely you set down what you are doing or have in your hands. :p

I don't know if you have kids, but if you do then you know that you may not know something got messed with till after the fact. which invariably is followed up by with. "Did _you_ mess with this?" "yes...."

Damn life happens a lot, especially with little boys... damn his sister who is now 21 wasn't quite a handful like this.

And this is FiiO's fault somehow .........

Prior to this firmware, there was a volume limiter you could configure. now, there is not.

So you tell me?

So you installed new firmware, plugged in your iems and pushed play. It never occurred to you to look at the screen? You still have a bar on the top that indicate volume level, battery indicator etc?

I installed the firmware a few days ago, and the volume was still where I needed it to be. If it's been working why would I look at my screen when sitting back down now? heck it wasn't even powered down yet

Now, I know the limiter seems to be gone. Now, I know to look at the bar every time I pick it up and play.

The things one learns after the fact still doesn't change the fact that what was there and working, isn't there now.

Yes - I have a 16 yo and 18 yo. And yes - if my wife calls I pay due attention. And yes I understand how inquisitive kids are. I guess I'm possibly old school - I always check volume before pushing play. And even when our kids were small, they knew what they could touch and what they couldn't.

Interestingly, I never noticed a max volume limiter before. But I always check volume first - which is why I've probably never noticed it was there

I have relied on the volume limiter on the FiiO X5 and X5II after discovering that I could accidentally boost the volume fast with my player in a pocket. I only did that once, and that once was enough. :)

I hear you - my biggest issue was plugging into the line-out. You only do that a couple of times and learn pretty quickly :0

I keep a little plug in the line out port to help not do that. You mentioned being old school enough to always check things, I do that with my stereo and my Schiit Stack. I really need to stay on top of doing that with my DAP as well.

Oh I've done that before. Like you say, you soon learn!

Hi All,
The volume dial on my X7II is acting weird. Sometimes when I try to increase a step or two, it goes back a step or two. It's really annoying for me.
I feel it's a hardware issue, I contacted FiiO India and they said it's normal. I never had this kind of issue with my X5III. I already tried factory reset but it didn't help.
Is it really normal with X7II? or do I have to send it for repair?
