@FiiO I may have missed your active time today. But I would greatly appreciate an answer at any time on how to use the Audeze created Convolution filters in the Viper Effects Convolver. I know this is the mk2 thread, but I have the X7 mk1.
Dear friend,
We could not provide an answer to you about that because Viper didn't provide this to us as well.

We got the feedback about Convolver from our user, for your reference: When given a sample file, the playerundefineds music presents the same sound features as that sample.

Best regards

Thank you for the reply. But any way you can refrase this, or fix the typos? I'm unable to decipher what you meant.

(But guessing at the meaning) The question is not "what does it do". It is "how do I get the Convolver to see my filters?" (This should be something you as the manufacturer should be able to tell me, as it is running on your device, provided by you). And "is .wav format supported?"

Do you know a website I can visit to ask the Viper team? I couldn't determine what it may be from Google.

Much thanx for your time.

Dear friend,

You could see the green robot interface when connecting to the PC or not? If yes, have you pressed the 'turn on xxx' button first, and then the green colour would turn orange one.

Best regards
Hi,

So this is very random. I tried what LudoLVG recommended and switched to MTP mode in th settings. This seemed to work in that I could see internal and external storage. However when I click on internal, and then the music folder I only see 3 music artist / album folders, yet I have far more. I switched back to Mass Storage mode and it appeared to then work. The robot interface did go orange and it seemed fine.

I then plugged into my PC at home and same issues as before. Mass storage mode only shows SD card and the robot interface stays green even though it says connected. I went back to MTP mode and again could only see 3 music folders on internal storage.

Came back into work this morning and tried the same laptop that I had some success on yesterday and again, not working. Same results in MTP mode as I’ve outlined and storage only shows SD card and robot interface stays green.

Again to reiterate This was never. Problem before and the only changes on the X7 have been the firmware update. I have updated the Fiio music app as well, but that was since this issue occurred. So whilst I thank Fiio for fixing my issue with playlists (now in the Fiio app when you back out of a playlist, you go back to the same point in the master list which is great) I’m now left with real connectivity issue.

Is there a way to reset settings only? I don’t want to loose all my music ideally and as i can’t access my internal storage and see all my music, I can’t copy it off either!

What setting are people using in the settings?

Balanced or high performance?

I am using high performance as of recent times.

To me faster and more controlled bass, more layered, and a bit more seperation.

Downside it does get a bit hot.

Just using redbook flac, no streaming #overkill

Would using this with the older Fiio amp with optical in benefit the sound or is it a waste. I have an older Fiio amp which I used to use with my Vaio optical laptop.
Just wondering if there is any benefit.
You should be able to use optical out to your amp, but I don't think you will need it as far as power.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but what is the official difference between balanced and high performance, as I didn't think there was a sonic advantage with high performance?

Dear friend,

You could select the Convolver sample from ViPER4Android/Kernel after turning on the Convolver. Their website: http://vipersaudio.com/
The Viper company did not provide the reference to us and this function is supported by Viper so we could only share the feedback from other user to you currently. Hope it help.

Best regards

Dear friend,

The robot interface stays green even pressing the turn on usb storage button in the display? You could do the factory restore from system settings which would not delete your music files and change the firmware verison. But the APP data will be clear.

Balanced mode:
Battery life: Approximately 9 hours (tested in certain conditions) , about 1 hour longer that in High performance mode;
Performance:352.8/384kHz SRC to 176.4/192kHz; no SRC while playing other sampling rate songs.

High performance mode:
Battery life:Approximately 8 hours (tested in certain conditions) when playing certain testing tracks;
Performance: supports decoding 352.8/384kHz and no SRC.

So if you are playing the songs with frequecy lower than 352.8/384kHz, balanced mode may fit your need.

Best regards

In your opinion, should high performance mode sound better ?

@FiiO

I am always using high performance / high gain. Seems to provide best overall user experience.

To me - they sound exactly the same. I don't have any tracks running at 384 kHz and doubt anyone else does either. The pre-occupation with bigger numbers, and the thought they sound better is simply human fallibility and placebo at its finest :wink: Just like the idea that high gain sounds better than low gain. Same signal. All high gain does is raise the volume on everything - including the noise floor. If its not actually needed - high gain is the worst thing you can engage. But people think it sounds better because it is louder.

We humans are a funny bunch.

Personally I'd rather leave the noise floor where it is.
