FiiO X5 II Custom Themes Thread

That's very strange George. I work in Windows and OSX for my visual effects business and I have never had the background image issue you are speaking of, and believe me I make a living from noticing anti-aliasing and compression artifacts. You got me stumped.

Windows 10 wallpaper for desktop, just take a picture, right click - set as wallpaper. It comes aliased.

I will upload one or more examples in dropbox and post them here.

Maybe I screwed my windows settings at a point?

The original wallpaper

And what windows seems to had resampled or something (banding on lighting effect)

George, try this BG.

There were a few jpg compression artifacts and banding in the original image and I'm guessing that Windows saves a lower jpg compression version to use as the background image, which only exaggerates the problem. I reduced some noise and added a slight amount of film grain which is what is typically done as a quick way to reduce banding.

Firmware 1.11 Beta has been released for the X5II, and I have updated my themes to the latest firmware.

Download

Changes:
  1. Update base firmware: 1.1 -> 1.11B
  2. Change fonts: Microsoft Yahei -> M+ 2p
    1. This change reduces filesize by over 10MB while removing support for languages Chinese and Korean.

Has anyone been brave enough to touch default.ini file?

I'm particularly curious about:

<treble_adjustment_value>0</treble_adjustment_value>//-10,0,10
<bass_adjustment_value>0</bass_adjustment_value>//-10,0,10

0//-10,0,10

0//-10,0,10

That looks like a left over from the first generation X3. The other FiiO DAPs have no adjustment of tone control. Only Graphic EQ.

Because all the themes use the same coordinates you need to update everything or you'll get weird placements. It's all or nothing when updating to a new firmware version. I'll get 1.11 up shortly.

When you get to the latest beta, I am interested if you get any glitches, because my mods seemed to had introduced some glitches, and I cannot fiind the reason why.
