AsianInvasion, I haven't forgotten about you buddy! I'll link to your new themes when I get on my PC tomorrow. Thanks a bunch for jumping in with your great themes and doing it blind without being able to test. Kudos!

Has anyone compiled a version cointaining a smaller font files?

I want to make my version snappyer, so if anyone can replace the fonts file and be sure it is safe, I am interested.

Also, with the original firmware, when moving the selection cursor, sometimes it lags a few pixels, like the microprocessor has trouble drawing everything, this should help.

So, I made this, and it will not flash. I do not understand why.

I don't have the guts to dry it, but did it work before the customization? Is it firmware 1.1 for the X5 II?

Does your pack.bat look like this: «packtools --pack -i X5II -o X5II.fw -m x5ii» and your unpack.bat like this: «packtools --unpack -i X5II.fw -o X5II»?

Actually, I just edited them. I am going to test tomorrow, it is already 1am in Romania. Maybe this was the problem.

I used the old packtools, and edited the name after pack/unpack.

George, re-download the FW tools from the first link in this thread. I already edited it to work with the X5ii. More than likely there is a small syntax error in the .bat you edited. Also, as JaZZ suggested make sure the FW is for theX5ii.

Okay. I downloaded the new firmware tools, and started making the new UI.

I will come back after I finish.

Anyways, besides me not liking the Orange color, and backgrounds, there is not much to dislike about the firmwares.

About fonts files, is the fonts files compatible from x5 to X5II? I want to get a bump of speed if possible.

Edit1::: I have no ideea if anyone but me is interested in this, but I kind of plan to do a UI with some elements related to Madoka anime. And anime in general. having 5 themes gives me the possibility to play for a lot longer than with the original x5.

It occured to me while I was playing that doing a multi color theme is a good thing now that we have a very good display, and anime is one of my passions beside music.

On third thougth, I also have new ideeas, the way images work in the new themes opes a lot of space for imagination. Especially the launcher.

EDIT2::: I changed all colors to a hue of aqua. I am not into Orange. Maybe I will try other hues, like an intense red, or violet of sorts. I think that I am the minority in not liking Orange, but if anyone wants a torquise theme I will post soon. after thinking about it, making an anime theme would be cheap but, so I am going to leave that ideea for someone with more free time than me.

Btw, this is how I see the other three themes, besides 1 and 2.

a gold with leather theme - i cannot see the appeal at all, it should be unsafe to have this theme on around Llamas, if my memory serves me well.
a jean denim material theme - maybe for rednecks
a wood theme - .... maybe for woodpeckers. \

Another thought is why have they not made a full silver titanium theme instead of jeans or leather. I mean, the device is titanium.

Or a carbon fiber theme to match the stickers that came with x5II.

Maybe if Fiio is reading this, could take some notes on how to take more advantage of the materials included with the device.

I can only see how carbon fiber would appeal to some, but I cannot see how wood is that appealing. Maybe making X5II look like wood protects it against theft better.

A small calculus resulted for me that there are around 5 frames per second of start up sequence.

Now, with the new hibernation standby mode, I rarely fully close X5II, but I wanted to redesign the startup into something more fun.

The beautifull screen enables you to make such better general UI.

Most of the UI elements are very nice, except for the wallpapers and backgrounds.
