> also hiccups on pure music mode reading from SD
even on last firmware?
oh my...
Also hiccups with downloaded songs on Yandex.Music on previous FW. Annoying. Didn't try on 1.1.8 as currently IEM free. Also Google Music still not working properly - can't download above approx. 800 MB of music. Very annoying. @FiiO is there a hope it's fixed anytime soon? Been promised it would long time ago. Basically bought this DAP because of streaming ability and Google Music not working.

Strange. I'm not getting the notification that new firmware is available like I received on previous releases. Even when manually checking for updates in android mode, it says I'm running the most up to date version 1.1.7. I had no problems with Ota upgrades previously. Any suggestions? Thanks

Did you turn off WiFi to save the battery? That's how I keep mine normally and when I enabled WiFi it found the update in seconds.

Even with all my complaining previously, the X5iii is a wonderful sounding player! Enjoying a bit of shuffling with my 10k+ songs currently on the device and my Makka Monk+

Thanks, yes wifi is on, (I even checked the Fiio site from the android technical support site just to make sure). Not earthshaking problem as I know I can manually download, just wondering why
the notification isn't showing up or if this is an isolated case.

Hello guys , if anyone have plenue P1 and fiio X5III can you tell me which is a little brighter or have a better detail retrieval (even if its slight difference) and is there difference in sonics and sound quality? (with no EQing and all on flat default settings) , i am really torn between the two and i can't test any of them since in my country there is no store that sells HIFI players.
my favorite music genre is Metal/Rock , using Flac files , also i am not a bass head or a treble head (you can say i like mids or vocals to shine more :) ) but of course i like good bass.

also i know Cowon are the kings of DSPs , but wanna know if viper effects are good or comparable to Cowon jet effect 7 ?

thanks:)

After some more time to play with, I need to add, that there are issues, when you're not patient enough.
My standard way to play music is with folders. I have around 5'000 albums and play them usually in the folder mode. That works like a charm ...
But, if you like to shuffle or search for a specific title, you're in trouble.
I guess, the processor of FiiO X5 is simple not performant enough to do this tasks in a way, that it is useful.
The initial scan in FiiO Player took about 10 minutes, PowerAmp roughly half an hour.
So, if you want to use seamlessly all functions when playing music, the 400GB microSDcard is not the right storage solution.
For me it works, I can go to an artist folder, chose the album and play it ...
That's how I use FiiO X5 ...

Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear it's not working perfectly. Hopefully it will be fixed by a firmware update.
Good to hear though that it's good enough for you for now. Enjoy!

Hi people, i post a new message from Nutron dev. Dimitri. I cannot test it because i have sended my X5 back to seller, because of few white/bright dots on display visible on white background... share your opinions/ test results please, i resend it to Dimitri... thanks...
Hi Joseph,

Neutron has changes in Generic Driver (AudioTrack) and will now use
lower-level OS interface for sending audio that brings possibility to
get hi-res on some mobile devices with hi-res DACs.

According previously sent logs I have also made corrections for Fiio
to preserve hi-res. Would you please check this dev version, whether
it produces hi-res:
http://neutronmp.com/download/dev/NeutronMP_NEON_DEV_021017.apk

When you have some free time, would you please check the following:

- set for example 176400 or 192000 in Audio Hardware -> Frequency and
confirm changes, then re-enter Audio Hardware and tap on panel with
labels Channels, Bits, it will show current output format and
frequency of the audio device

Also it would be great to have a logcat log like you provided earlier,
to be sure that all is ok and new driver works well.

I will appreciate your kind help!

Best regards,
Dmitry.

Looks like I'm not the only one that had bright white spots on my screen...

This bugs me, not a major deal but still. Example I had two albums that at one point were tagged incorrectly and showed up as "Rolling Stones" vs. "The Rolling Stones". To fix this in Fiio Music app I changed the tags, imported the songs, update music and nothing happened. So had to delete them from the app and do a re-update. Fixed.

Foobar2000 app, here's what I had to do for it to appear correctly, nothing! It just does it all for you. It's like this when you add new music as well. Why is Fiio Music such a struggle to do things that other apps handle with ease?

Dev mode is an android feature that scares a lot of people, but is relatively harmless... You can activate usb debugging mode in order to connect to a shell via USB, you can tweak animation and gpu settings and a bunch of other features that most people don't have a need for... Personally, I wouldn't mess around too much in there.
