But if I'm going to use the DAP as my portable source as well as my music transport at home, then why not get the best possible DAP that does both?  I can easily justify (to myself) using a higher quality DAP as transport.  At home, it feeds a fairly high-end desktop system, but when I need to leave the house, I just unplug it and viola...I also have an excellent performing DAP for carrying around.  That way I don't need to own both a "cheap" digital transport AND a higher quality portable (and the additional cost of the second unit).  Killing two birds with one stone (or one DAP), as it were...:wink_face:

Hello all, I am looking for a new Dap and was trying to decide between Opus#2 and DX200.  But now this dap is one I am considering after hearing about it.  Anyone have any comparisons, SQ wise, between this and DX200 or Opus#2 or AK240SS (which I used to own)?  I am reading through this thread, but only just started so have MANY pages to read.  Also, I am worried about balanced out.  I was reading that you might want to steer clear of balanced due to 3ohm balanced, is that true?  I would do most listening on my Kumitate (くみたて) Lab Trio via balanced and do not want diminished SQ.  Thanks

You totally missed the point. Why spend almost $400 and then go and spend about $600 on a dac/amp combo when you have a rather good dac in the X5III?

Cause of sound. AK240 conncted to a Hugo will sound different than say a X3 connected to the Hugo. Also the X5III can hold a lot more music than say another dap with obe SD slot. Also the X5III only cost 1/3 the price of many other daps.

I can't test right with those files now but I did play m4a files with the X5.

I have the same issue, with firmware 1.1.3
 

 
It displays "-1'

At the end of the song, it goes back to the previous selected album.
 
It happens randomly. Sometime, it is OK for this Vangelis's album too : "1" is displayed and, it plays the album perfectly
 
Last time it happened, I selected an album in the "album view", clicked on the first song (count was correct : "1/7"), played some songs from this album (not all songs).
While playing a song, I selected this Vangelis's album in the "Album view",  clicked on the first song, and see that count was not correct : "-1/16"

 
I hope FiiO will read our messages about this bug and fix it soon. 
 
Note : After upgrading from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3, I performed a full Wipe data/factory reset + Wipe cache from the Android Recovery Menu. Then I scanned the musics (stored in music folder on µSD 1). All songs were found. They all contain album art in their ID3 tags. Despite this, the "-1" issue is there.
I don't know if this issue appears with 1.1.3 if tracks do not contain album art in the ID3 tags.

 


It's really nice to see someone in this thread likes Vangelis.

 
Vangelis sounds great on X5 III and 99c.

  Got problem - 24/192 files after start loading from 20sec till forever, some keep playing, some stop after 30-40 sec. Bug? Or processor?
VLC - playing with some scratches in the beginning. Limited capabilities of processor?

In this way, any failure information of X5 3rd gen would be automatically uploaded to our server and our engineers could read that info and analyze it as soon as they could (You could go to "FiiO Music Settings- About APP-User Experience Improvement Project" to turn it on if you didn't agree on the project at the beginning).
 
2. Go to internal storage of your X5 3rd gen (internal_sd\FiiOMusic\crash), and send this "crash" folder to support@fiio.net.
