I believe the X5iii already has USB DAC functionality - you just need to get the updated Fiio driver from their Chinese website (it's not on the English website since there has been no international release yet I assume).

At the bottom of the page, there should be a link next to something that has the words "USB DAC" and some Chinese characters. Click on that to download the new USB DAC driver.
 
It should work, though I haven't tried it myself.

 Yep , it can , but it is unnecessary to format it if your card is working well.

 I'm on FW 1.0.9 and after installing the drivers and opening the Fiio control Panel it does not show anything when i plug my X5III

you can try it first since it is brand new , if it does not work ,then you format it .

About the issues that some APPs can't store the music to extra mSD card, we now can make it work but the problem is that you can't store to build in memory anymore.  still waiting the final solution from Rockchip.

At least that's a start! I am keeping my fingers crossed that Rockchip come out with a solution where both storages can be used.
