X5III will be way more than sufficient. As a general rule, you don't want to have 'just enough' power, as that means your source is always near its limit. You will always want a bit more, but not so much that you will never going to use it. Also, unless you are planning to use just one pair of headphone forever, the smarter thing to do is to have a source with just a bit more output power in case your next headphone isn't as easy to drive as your current headphone. Of course, with such an high output as X5III, there is actually only a handful of headphone that it can't drive well.

Have you tried driving a HD650 and HD800 straight from the X5iii without amping? Does it perform well?

Don't have, and don't know.

X5ii could borderline drive a HD650. I liked the combo and many have used them like this, without more amping.

I've not heard the x5ii, but general consensus have been on the warm signature side. Does that mix well with HD650 considering both are warm types?

Please do your long-term high-frequency and avoid HD800 :p

Do my long term high frequency? Sorry I'm lost to what you mean't... :)

Still a bit bright, lol.

Wait, what? I thought it was neutral-warm. Will have to back read again.

Anyway, for those who have tried it already, how's the UI so far? Smooth or does it lag so much (especially when filled with hi-res stuff)?

Depends on your preferences, I guess. I've listened to HD800 (modded and stock) and HD800S back to back a few times now out of multiple setups (both solid state and tubes). To my ears, HD800S is bright. HD800 is painfully bright. No way I'd buy either.

Kinda wondering why someone would want to listen to high-end open back headphones out of a mid-tier DAP anyway...

@JamesFiiO Will X5 3rd Gen be available in Red color? Is it going to be Limited Edition or just regular option? I'm seriously in love with the Red color for X5 3rd gen haha.
