Yep, X5 3rd gen will be available in Red color, it will be our regular option.

Probably next week.  I don't have an HD650.  Just HD600 and HD800S.

I've not heard the x5ii, but general consensus have been on the warm signature side. Does that mix well with HD650 considering both are warm types?

 
X5ii was not on the warm side, but rather on the neutral / brightish sound. Either way, it's combo with HD  650 was quite amazing. 
 

Depends on your preferences, I guess. I've listened to HD800 (modded and stock) and HD800S back to back a few times now out of multiple setups (both solid state and tubes). To my ears, HD800S is bright. HD800 is painfully bright. No way I'd buy either.

Kinda wondering why someone would want to listen to high-end open back headphones out of a mid-tier DAP anyway...

 

Needless to say me liked HD800 and HD800S, but the treble is peaky.
 
Ie800 sound with a really strong and vibrant treble is considerably better where there is no peak and the sound is really bright but not puncturing in one area only. 
 
About a high end headphone from a mid tier DAP,HD800S in particular needs more powaaaaa, but even a cheaper amp would drive them well, or a chord Mojo, no need to pay a lot to get their best sound, but they weren't really made to be portable 

 
I would be considerably more bothered by having to carry that 3M cable and open back design than anything else if considering HD800S portable. 
 
X5ii could drive HD800 and HD800S let's say well, but adding even a cheap desktop amp like... Fiio K5 or HPA-3B or HPA-3U... can drive HD800 series to more than full potential for those rusty ears.

So, have you all determined which accessories you will be offering? I'm interested if you could manage a way to stack with a portable amp (E12/A5), maybe a stacking kit or case? A standard leather case would also be pretty cool. Either way, I'm trying my best to patiently wait, but it's hard..

They posted pics of a leather case a page or two back. They haven't mentioned a stacking kit yet. You could always use bands to pair it with an amp just like any other DAP.

We have not plan to develop the stacking kit but the leather case is included.

I was just about to buy a X5-II.....now I feel I should wait for the Gen 3 to become available in the USA....but how many months will the wait be?   Will enough units be available initially that I will be able to get one soon after their introduction in the USA, or will I be waiting for many more months?  I have not had previous experience waiting for such an introduction of a product from FiiO, so I will have to stay tuned to Head-Fi and see the posts by FiiO and also what the more experienced members here are saying about the probable waiting time.
 
I will probably decide to be patient and wait for however long it takes to get the Gen 3, as the touch screen controls would presumably result in a lower likelihood of mechanical malfunctions, and the improvements in sound and UI that come with the new version are also very appealing.

Usually stock is pretty good once it's released in the US.  From past releases, it ends up being a few weeks after the Asian releases.  My guess...end of January.

Now we have add the gapless in x5iii and the new beta firmware of X7,  and next step, we will test the google play and other apps which only used outside China, so you many expect it is available in Feb, 2017
