Well, yes indeed... until it gets a mind for itself and freezes up (for example).
Freezes up sucks , I bought mine the first week it cane out. I never upgraded the FW. I put two 400gig cards and never had an issue. Only neg is the slow turn on time.

I’m having some issues with the cards reading properly, but I think it’s more the Hiby app. Same thing is happening on my Pioneer player. Started happening a few weeks ago after Hiby sent down an update. Folder view shows 0 tracks but when I drill down into the individual folders everything is there and all tracks play fine.

As a rule, I tend not to bitch and/or moan about small tech issues with this device, but I am now losing my patience in a big way. As a follow up to my previous post, I was just listening to a track on the 2nd card, when all of sudden it stopped playing. I looked at the screen and it said I had 0 files on that card. Okay so I rescanned the card; and it still shows 0 files (this in in Folder view), but when I drill down, all the sub-folders (i.e., N-P Q-Z, and all the subsequent artist sub-folders) are present, as are all the tracks.

If I use an alternate search (i.e., song title, artist, genre, etc.) nothing appears.

This is getting quite frustrating.

This would worry me, except I rarely use it for that long without charging it up at home. The issues with not finding the songs is more worrisome. Just out of curiosity did you try swapping the cards to see if the problem follows the cards to the other drives?

Firmware version 1.2.1 also gives me problems. The player works slower and crashes occur.
Any solution? Return to the previous version or is it possible that Fiio solve it?

I did. I swapped cards from another player (both are 400gb). Same issue. I rescanned twice more and now it’s okay

Regarding battery life, I also usually charge it while playing, but I thought I’d add the comment for all interested.

My understanding is that keeping charging your battery while using it, will rapidly diminish the battery life.

If I make sure the screen timeout is set low, turn off BT and WiFi, I might get 6-7 hours, but I definitely do not get 8 hours. Again, it's not much of a concern, it's just aggravating that at the $400 price point (which is what I paid as I bought it when it first came to market), performance is this poor.

but much like a faithful dog that occasionally pees on the carpet, I still like it a lot! :)

Do you guys hear any real difference between flac and DSD files? I asked because I don't—maybe my hearing is not that accurate? I have owned Fiio X5iii for more than a year, I usually pair it with Final Audio Design Pandora Hope IV cans.
The Pandoras are not nearly revealing enough to let you hear the difference.

Some MP3s sounds better than Flac and DSD.
