Do sobgs cut out and glitch before they stop playing altogether? Do the songs disappear the moment you check the card? It's happening on mine and I can't seem to fix it. Tried nearly everything.

Should I go back to the previous firmware update?

I've had that happen once or twice. I now have issues powering down the unit or rebooting. I simply get the message that it is doing either, and 15 minutes later... it is still trying to do that same function. If I hold the power button down to force it to shut down, it reboots. I've contacted Fiio for a replacement unit, personally... I wish I could just get a refund.

Play/resume update.
So, I am currently using the new beta firmware, and the resume problem seems better, anyway is still far to be solved. The good is that I do not have anymore the problem of the random resume or playing the wrong song.
The bad: I am using the black theme and a pair of earphone with remote control (volume, play pause, ecc... a standard one) that previously worked with the X5ii and III, and, the situation is the following:
1) in android mode if I pause and stay in pause few minutes if I try to play again from the remote it doesn't work. I am obliged to pick the X5 from my pocket and touch the play botton on the screen.
2) if I am in Pure mode it works.

I hope that FiiO can reproduce the issue and find a solution. May be it depends from the theme but I still have to to try.

I have had the same issue. Decided to downgrade to FW1.1.6. Now working better.

Did you try using the DAP without any cards to see if the problem persists?

Tried this with the included rubber bands from the stacking kit. Working out pretty well.

I can't speak for WayTooCrazy, but I've only had the problem occur in relation to my 256GB sd card. If playing from my 32 GB one or the internal, then I don;'t notice too many problems. Now, this was with Firmware 1.1.7. I have since downgraded to 1.1.6.

Haven't had too many issues with mines but latest firmware has introduced a bug where if I start looking into my folders for an album while music is playing, it will boot me out all together on occasion. Didn't have this issue with previous firmwares. Anyone else have this issue? Not a big deal as the music just stops playing and I have to start looking from opening fiio music app again but kind of annoying.

I am on 1.1.7 and though gapless is not working i seem to be able to browse through the folders inside Fiio Music while its playing.

Since the unit is hard to power off/reboot... I've not played much with it. I'm going to try and downgrade again and see if things get better. Still waiting for a response from Fiio.

Just my 2 cents if you have the time. Take both the cards out and restart. I had a very similar problem and scanning the cards independently on a windows pc solved the freezing issue of the device for me.

Update: Power/reboot issue seems to be working with 1.1.6 Firmware. I just reformatted my 256gb in my S8+. Going to add music there (as it communicates faster than the X5iii). I'm also going to try my 64GB in the X5iii to see how it reacts.
