Thanks for the update. Good to hear that you guys are trying to fix it.
I did contact the guys of RocketPlayer last April and they said it was on their to-do list.
I'll send them your info and hopefully either one of you might figure it out at some point.

Yes, but it does indicate that this is not a fault with the Fiio player. The Neutron testing going on looks interesting though.

Dsd - folow freq of the song does not work for me... folow freq works great on high res songs, or flacs... all freq to 192000hz are working for me... dop - i hear music playing very muted and a strange noise like old LP... higher freq then 192000 are not working for me...

I created the folder at the root of the X5 and i got :

- Playlists (empty folder)
- .nomedia
- eq_presets.xml
- neutronmp.db
- streaming.xml

no logs folder

hm.. try to manually create log folder in neutronmp folder.....play 1 song to the end...look in the log folder... for me was here 2 log files

Interesting. I thought that RP saw both cards on the XDP (which I've had for a year now) and was just a problem with the X5iii (which I just bought a week ago). I went back to the XDP and sure enough the app does only see the one SD card. I guess I'm going to update my Google Play review and deduct a star for this glaring oversight! :frowning2:

Yes, it is a bug on their side but actually 8.24 and 32-bit floating
point will give the same result - max 24 bit depth.

Dont have time right now, but it seems that i can see now more than 48000hz and to 192000hz it is working, 32 bit still dont work, dop over pcm dont work, folow freq of the sound is clamped to 176000hz... but i am impressed, hopefuly it can be a step forward... please try... you can put the logs here i will send them to neutron... thanks..

Here is dev version with 24-bit extended encoding (10) added in
AudioTrack driver:

Would you please check how Neutron works on your device. This extended
encoding is only for AudioTrack API and thus Audio Hardware -> Generic
Driver option must be switched on. If it is not, please switch it on,
confirm changes and re-enter to Audio Hardware settings.

If Neutron detected encoding then:

1) Current format: Bits will show 32 or 64 (out: 24);
2) Frequency section (in the bottom of the list) will have more than
one frequency up to 384 kHz.

If that is available then all is ok.

You could switch on DSD over PCM (DoP) option and try playing some DFF
or DSF files as DoP. It is interesting whether it will work.

Also, this dev version supports logging of SFX core, so that if you
create NeutronMP folder in the root of internal storage (where you see
Android, Music, ...) and logs inside NeutronMP (you will get
/NeutronMP/logs) then Neutron will do logging (Neutron must be
restarted completely to start logging) and /NeutronMP/logs will
contain log files which would be interesting to check.

Neutron's log file did not seem to contain the correct log. (You also need to create a logs folder)
Therefore, this is the debug log of Android Studio.
Also, neutron's 32 bit output setting had to be invalidated.

- FLAC 24bit/352.8kHz: not working (24_352.8_flac.txt, error log: 352800 Hz is not a supported sample rate)
- WAV 24bit/192kHz : working (24_192_wav.txt)
- WAV float32bit/192kHz : working (float32_192_wav.txt)
- WAV int32bit/192kHz : working (int32_192_wav.txt)
- DSD64 : DoP playback with noise (dsd64.txt)
- DSD128: DoP not working (dsd128.txt, error log: 352800 Hz is not a supported sample rate)


The following is the log of FiiO Music.
FLAC 24bit/352.8kHz can be played. It seems that processing is done as 176.4kHz * 2 from the log.
Audioformat = 10 is not used to play the DSD file.
Audioformat = 7 (ENCODING _ DTS) is set in DSD64.
Audioformat = 8 (ENCODING_DTS_HD) is set in the DSD128.

I have not got any information from FiiO about sample rate above 192kHz file and DSD file.
If you want to play these audio formats, I think that you need to confirm details with FiiO.

Changing tracks 24/192 while on coax out force closes the FiiO music application. DSD with bitrate of 5000+ is inaudible. My dreams of a transport with 2 mSD cards is slowly crumbling.
