FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

My only debit with the X5 II appears to be battery life which isn’t as long as either advertised or comparable to other previous FiiO DAPs, including the X5 I.  Has anyone else experienced this?

I've noticed the battery indicator is all over the place and never shows the amount of battery level available.  It has gone from half to dead in a song and from a sliver to hours of use.

I finally got my X5ii to run as an external DAC. I was having the Windows 8.1 issues. Here is a link to solve the issue of installing drivers if anyone else is experiencing the same. http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=40391

I would pull the micro sd and do a reset on the device. If that doesn't work you should refer to whomever you purchased it from for an exchange. I was having major lag and headphone port issues and had to exchange mine when the reset did not work. Hopefully that resolves your issue

I still get about 10 hours of life from the unit.  It's not a battery problem, it's an indicator and software bug.  I am ignoring it, charging once a day for a top up and just carrying on.

That sounds logical.  Hopefully a firmware update will address this.  My Hidizs AP100's indicator bar shows empty and I get a warning message about having a low battery... then it continues to play for one more hour at least.

Funny that the columb battery meter is a point of focus in the X5ii marketing material.

Long time no see guys--sorry I've been out of the loop, as non-FiiO related obligations and subpar health have been keeping me down :|

Anyway, here's some good news--first firmware update for the X5 2nd gen is available--and it's a stable release too! :D

I’m pleased to report that after the firmware update I was able to successfully update all media using a 200gb card.  It would previously hang before the update.  The X5 II is no longer lagging when scrolling through artist and genre filing as well.
