[FiiO M6] Portable High-Resolution Lossless Music Player,Embracing A Wireless Future

Yep, I just got an M6 today as my about-town-player and have been enjoying it full well up to the point that I used it as a transport into a Fiio Q5 - and the screen on/off crunch/crackle when connected via USB is an instant & big issue. Very annoying and saddening. I just A/B'd with the Cayin N3 that the M6 was due to replace and screen on/off via USB into Q5 is silent. I'm on the point of returning this now. Anyone got a view about this? From Fiio or otherwise? I'm a huge Fiio fan, don't get me wrong - rocking the M11 etc.

It doesn't seem likely to me that this could be addressed via software updates - it seems more in the hardware camp (well, as much as I understand such things - which, in truth is not very much at all...)?

If Fiio has identified this as a fault which affects a subsection of M6 players I'd be perfectly happy to exchange this for one which doesn't do this since the format and execution generally is excellent.

Update: uh, weird: using the Fiio CL06 usb C to micro usb cable it crackles and crunches when you screen on/off. Using either of my other two USB C to Micro USB cables (which means that the M6 tries to charge the Q5 while pushing data) there's no crackle! Is it the the CL06 that's at fault rather than the M6? That'd be better!
Dear friend,

If the issue only happens when using CL06 but not other cable, it is more likely to be a hardware issue with the CL06.

Best regards

The app does always do the first unfold, but the dac must be enabled to do the second unfold.
The dac in the m6 id not able to do the second unfold.

So you can play MQA in the Tidal app on the m6, but not as good as possible.

I use the M6 with the Tidal app with USB output to the Chord Mojo. When I play MQA tracks the sample rate remain red for 44.1. Seems the first unfold is not passed onwards to my usb dac.

Using my phone and Hiby R3 instead of the M6 I do get the first unfold.

Any advice anyone?

Just Fiio Music

As of recent I have an issue with using Spotify on the M6. Spotify music seems to literally bring the M6 to its knees just with playing music. I already reset the M6, and installed the Spotify APK provided by FiiO.
I disabled many of the features in Spotify, like gapless playplay, crossface, etc. Music quality has been set to very high (off course). Furthermore no changes from the defaults.

Anyone recognize this? Spotify is 50% of the use of the M6 for me so this is really annoying

Thanks, I just tested it with another cable. I can confirm unfortunately that this crackle/crunch noise is not limited to the CL06 and does indeed happen with other usb cables as well. This is a very unwelcome effect in a tiny player that I wanted to use in part as a transport for your excellent Q5. Other users - see above - have indicated that their units also do this. Could you please suggest a way to rectify this. Many thanks.

isn't it a big deficiency?

i think m6 using for mostly streaming appilications and this way this dap dont have equalizer.

Any chance for whitelist Re Equalizer app or making an anroid equalizer app for only fiio?
It indeed is a big deficiency but even the midfi ones do the same. Also if you see the newly announced Sony zx507 ($900) wont have a system wide EQ

I'm also connected to my Q1 Mk2 cia CL06 cable, I did turn off USB output disconnect the q1mk2, turned on again USB out reconnect the amp. restart the M6. crackling is now gone when pressing the power button

That's interesting, thanks. It does seem a bit surprising that a device of this kind could get to production with this kind of - I assume - hardware issue not having been noticed and sorted. It would be good if someone from Fiio could weigh in on this? I'd also be interested to know if other users can either replicate the issue or not find it at all - and this in order to see if it's a device-wide issue or a fault with some devices.

Dear friend,

Do you mean when pressing the power button of the Q1MKII, there will be no crackling??

Best regards

Hi,

What I've meant is after the restart on the M6, the crackling is now gone when turning on/off the screen from the m6.

I did transfer some files to the M6 via the wired USB, then aftewards I've reconnected the Q1MK2 and the crackling is now back

Update:
restarting the M6 with the Q1MK2 seems to alleviate the crackling thing.
