Try checking your Spotify account to see how many offline devices are registered. It has a habit of registering devces more tha once, and when you hit the limit (8, I think) it starts playing up...

yep I already did check that and thought maybe I had solved the problem but nope, even after removing a few duplicate offline devices it still happens.

Hi, here are my short impressions for the FiiO M6 :L3000:

The FiiO M6 is the smallest, most affordable and capable DAP with Android OS to date.

It has a touch screen, features Bluetooth transmitting + USB DAC functionalities and supports Online Streaming Services in both Online and Offline mode (Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Quobuz, etc.).
All this features are offered in a device that has a compact design and good battery life, which makes the M6 to a real “Bang for the Buck”.

Some Pros and Cons:
  • + Size and Build Quality
  • + Streaming Services in Online and Offline Mode
  • + Lots of Features (Bluetooth DAC, USB DAC)
  • + Simple and user-friendly UI
  • + Neutral and Musical Presentation
  • + Clean Background
  • - The Exynos Process has it's limit's
  • - Average Soundstage
  • - The treble area needs a touch more sparkle
  • - Sub-bass extension

Thank you very much :boy:

I like nice short reviews that give you the relevant info, and give the positive and the negative aspects also. That way the reader gets good info to make a buying decision.

Mine tend to rattle on and my fanboyism tends to show :) But really with m6 it's pretty much a no brainer if you want a nice tiny feature packed dap.

Just taken delivery of my M6 -which I intended using as a digital source for my Teac HA P90 DAC/AMP. Bought the Fiio CL06 cable as recommended - works with My Hiby R6 connected to the Teac, so promising.....

But the M6 will not play through the Teac, despite being recognised as a USB device, (M6 recognises the Teac as a USB device also). All Fiio music settings for USB out tried with no success - no sound.

Am I missing something or am I unlucky that I have a DAC/Amp which the M6 won't work with?

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion but I can’t find “turn off usb audio” On the Fiio music pull down menu there is the choice of usb DAC or storage. In Fiio music settings there are 2 settings for usb audio output mode. In general settings/audio there is usb DAC on or off. Changing any of these settings has no effect - still no sound!

OMG! :astonished:

I feel so stupid right now. I was kinda bored and went thru developer options (wich is not a place for me to be in, only when I need it) and not knowing what I was doing pressed secondary screen display {or something like that.} and selected 4K :anguished: The most stupidest part of this is that I instantly turned off my FiiO M6. Now: A. I can’t put in my passcode b/c the overlay is blocking it B. My FiiO M6 is “disabled” forever.:disappointed_relieved:

I hope there is a way to hard reset it using hardware keys.

@FiiO I asked a while ago could on screen track skip fwd and back be implemented on M6 M9 when using Bluetooth as the Shanling players implemented this very nicely.
I was told that this was in the works has it come to fruition??
Thank you
Dear friend,

Do you mean when the M6/M9 when working as Bluetooth AMP?
When using FiiO Music APP in M6/M9, you could hold the progress bar to change the progress of current music file?

Best regards

Dear friend,

Please try to enter recovery mode(M6 power off) by holding the volume - and power button at the same time. Then select the wipe data/factory restore option to see if it helps?
Best regards

Bingo! This is exactly my point. And I can get the LG Vxx anywhere in my country. In fact I was going to buy that VERY phone (V30 or V20) but as I had my Moto G5 that works acceptably well, and the M6 just got out at a very acceptable price.. I went for it! I have two X1s (first and second gen) so that's been always my price range, I would have gone the M3K way usually.. But Android and the price made me choose the M6.

(To be honest: a lot of the time I use my beloved BTR1K with my Moto G.. Sound improves exponentially..)

So here's the take: u$s 150 is the sweet spot in my opinion. At most: u$s 200. I think for those extra u$s 50 they might improve the performance a bit someday, and total winner. And OPEN UP THE SOFTWARE! That all works out in the end as we've seen in the community.

With this price range FiiO gets more users (among those like me who used to spend less or nothing). It's alright that they offer a u$s 500 unit for those who want it, but that's a tough segment, I wouldn't lose sight of the real winner: the u$s 100 - u$s 300 DAP range. That's where FiiO has to shine.

I love my V30. It's my go to audio device really. I have all my 12k or so hires and vanilla flac albums stored on Dropbox now and using Cloudplayer as my own personal streaming service. Im like a pig in the proverbial. I have the BTR3 which is super with the V30 too for more portable/hands free use. Im still working out a use case even for my M6, lol, and the X7ii is getting less played too since getting the V30. Just i love using the M6. I wish it had better ergonomics (Fiio App) then it would just be even better to use :-)

I bet it's great! I had a Nexus 6P for years and now the Moto G5 while fantastic for the price is a little underwhelming. I still didn't give up on the LG-Vxx series (at first, long ago I was put off for that LG bootloop thing; funny my Nexus 6P died just like that). I am very happy with the BTR1K but the BTR3 looks way yummy. At this moment, though I'm waiting to see what the M5 offer (another player whoa!!)

"Use case": ouch that hurt LOL. Yeah, I can hardly find use cases for most gadgets (or big audio gear) I get but geez, I just love them. And yeah the M6 is totally lovable, and will be more if worked on.

PS: Will try cloudplayer! My NAS is on wd cloud so it might work, thanks!
