Hi.
I've also experienced this bug. In Spanish there are names as "Dënver" or "Último", and those characters with ´ or ¨ are often replaced by Chinese characters. It happens only under "Fiio Music" app; if I go to the folder via "File Management", those names are correctly written.

Yeah, it's not that much of a deal to me. But I can understand that there are people who listen to alot of bands/artists that have weird letters in their names. Can imagine those people would like a fix for it

Yep most of my music is British or American Rock and if there's some spanish-named stuff (from my own country) I usually eliminate the accents in mp3tag, that delightful free editor. But YES there should be a unicode or ISO support of filenames, definitely. If it's alright in the File Management, then it's not an OS problem (and it shouldn't be, Android is obviously thought as multilingual). Maybe just an update of Fiio Music will fix it

hey all,

I wrote off Fiio long ago after problems I had with their first generation DAP's. But lately the M6 caught my eye and having watched some youtube reviews and seeing how complete the feature set is and how few issues people are having I am thinking of giving Fiio another shot.

I currently have the Shanling M0 and I do like it for the price but for not much more than what I paid for it the M6 has so much more to offer or so it seems.

I understand that the M6 is using an older ESS sabre DAC/Amp chip than the M0 but I am wondering how much of a difference in sound quality there really is between the M6 and the Shanling M0? Spec wise they seem to match up pretty evenly for power and battery life.

Has anyone had a chance to listen to both the M6 and Shanling M0 and can you give me your impressions?

The M6 is not yet in Canada so I can't try it out yet but I am looking forward to demoing one.

Looking forward to catching up on this thread and adding it to my list of threads to follow going forward.

@FiiO I found a small bug in the M6. When listening to bands that have weird letters in their name; they're being replaced by Chinese symbols. F.e. I listened to Kælan Mikla last night. And the weird ae shows up as a Chinese symbol. Not a major bug and it also doesn't bother me that much. But would be nice if it would be fixed in a future firmware update.

@FiiO I already asked this before, but didn't get a reply, so I'm asking again: will there be cases for the M6 which cover the screen in the near future? I know that these kind of cases exist for most of the Fiio DAP's from the X-series. A company named Tuff Luv made them. Any updates on them or another company making this kind of cases?

btw, @FiiO does the m6 have any kind of screen protection (hardened glass, etc) besides the plastic screen protector that comes with it?

A screen protector comes with the M6 and you could apply it by yourself. And the back panel protector has already been applied. Also a clear case will be included.

Does this mean that the bi-directional bluetooth transmission doesn't come with the M6 out of the box? The initial post in this thread with the specs said it's supposed to be able to do that.

The bi-directional bluetooth transmission has already come with the M6. Please check again that the the LDAC receiver function will be added in M6/M7/M9 in the coming soon. But the SBC support has already been added.

Quick question: how do you update the software? Is it an easy process or is it a pain to do?

You can copy the apk file of the qualified app to the M6, then open the File Management app, locate and click on the apk file to install it.
