Low gain sounds best!

I catched this info here about the DAC Chips used in the M15 & M15Pro :

M11 pro 4497x2, M15 4499x2, M15 pro 4499x2 Limited Edition

but.... I do not know what is a limited edition of the AK4499 ??

So, we have:
- twice as much power consumption for 4499 compared to 4497 (not to mention that the typical or average power consumption is specified in this doc, with 4497 cosuming about 500 mW in some modes when convering hi-resolution files. Thus, 4499 at max will easily exceed 1 W consumption rate for a single DAC...)
- twice as many output channels (4 instead of 2) for 4499 with the need of pairing them, especially when 2 DACs are used. Otherwise these two additional channels will be just left unused, I presume;
- need for additional I/V circuitry because of the current output on 4499 instead of voltage on 4497;
- twice as many pins for 4499 DAC chip.
And for balancing all these disadvantages we have what? A few more decibels higher THD+N and DR (which already exceed our hearing perception even in most of the current mobile DAP implementations).The battery capacity is not doubled, though...
I can only imagine how underutilized AKM 4499 DACs will be in mobile solutions, especially in dual DAC configuration. And absolutely don't see what to rave about 4499 in forthcoming DAPs.
Sorry for the offtop and I don't mean to be rude to anyone, just wanted to cut this marketing cackle

I'm more interested in what kind of amplifier will be in the M15 and M15Pro.
About the battery, the official representative of Fiio said that it will be 7500mAh in volume, if I am not mistaken, this volume should be enough for 8-9 hours of operation of the device. This operating time is in most cases sufficient for a modern portable Hi-Fi device. Demand for the M15 and M15Pro will be high anyway.

Fiio produces very successful models of portable devices, but with firmware they are not doing so well. For example, I recently discovered that the Fiio Music player, namely when the equalizer is activated when listening on full-size headphones at high gain at an average volume of 60 divisions, the device starts to reset the volume. Neutron with the equalizer works stably. On x5-3, M11, this problem with lowering the volume was also present. Apparently this is the problem of the equalizer Fiio Music.

Fiio has always done this, it's implemented to eliminate clipping. I've always found their EQ to be basically useless. I don't use EQ so it really doesn't matter to me but if I did I would use Neutron and adjust the volume.

It shouldn't be that bad. A&K SP2000 uses the 4999EQ and people love the DAP.

Sound , power , weight. It weighs alot as if AK is pricing it by weight. Power is lacking , I had to go up to 120 volume. Sound is actually worse than the sp1000 which I had. Didnt you just buy a Fiio and bought a case? Thats a good buy.

Yeah, I'm still struggling with the upper end; I think the CL2 is not a good match for the M11P, too hot. I'm thinking of getting a used Leg X and a nice silver cable like Cleopatra.

This dap wont help with that. Many owners of that iem said the same.

It got better when I switched to low gain, and when I use the stock cl2 tips and my Plussound SPC, it's not that bad. It just doesn't have the bass like the PW Limited. It handles the high end much better tho, and that's more important than superior base. There seems to be better sub bass rumble in the SPC, tho...

See, right now I'm listening to All Apologies, and it sounds fantastic, the vocal, drum beat, guitar, it all has perfect timbre. And the violin sounds great.. plenty of bass, layering, texture... air in the mids...black background, coherency... The M11P sounds great!
