@FiiO Is it possible to buy the foams seperately?
Dear friend,

Yes, you could PM us about the version you need. And which country are you located in now?

Best regards

Hi all. Today I paid attention to the cable of my fiio em5 and found such a speck on the cable. Is the copper oxidized? Will this affect the sound? And does anyone have the same?

Look to be the strains itself being oxidized , yeah… well… I would change the cables.

Cheap cables with silver as a materials will oxidize quickly (most coming from China, except a couple brands from China)

Good and reliable cables don’t come cheap

Dear LinstantX,

copper oxidized-->green
sliver oxidized-->black

So it seems the outlooking of cable stained with blue instead.

Best regards

got a pair of fiio ff3 last week, and em5 this week

i would have just keep the metal chrome ff3's but i was getting esd static shocks so i thought the resin em5's might reduce it

the ff3's sound better with the foams off and the em5 sound better with them on. so hopefully that also helps my static problem

the ff3's seem to have a bit of a V curve, mids are a bit recessed, then with foams they get way to bassy. so i leave foams off

the em5's seem to lack a bit of bass and mids and have too much treble, so the foams fix the bass and treble issue, then i just eq the mids up a touch

hoping the em5's are my new daily driver, they fit like a glove in my ear, very happy there. Cable is a tad bent due to being in the box which is mildly annoying.

The cable is great too, very light, soft and no microphonics.

this is false

there is microphonics

the white rubber coating on the cable rubs a tiny bit inside the green earbud resin chamber and creates a subtle ticking sound

its annoying. i would like to put a drop of super glue on the end but im scared that they left it open for bass port exhaust, anyone know?

It is the bass reflex port.

I think the bass port is the one I marked in your pic. Why you try covering the hole which you indicate with some blu-tack or tape to see if it changes anything before using glue?

I did not experience microphonics with EM5, so my post was not ‘false’! Clearly you are having a different experience.

No microphonics with my cable. I'm generally not moving when listening, which I find is really the only way to listen listen to earbuds anyway due to the loose fitting. Try listening with them over ears and see if this helps your situation. Improves fit for me.

ya i dont know if the bottom hole is also needed for bass or not

but i think im going to try a very small drop of dry teflon or silicone lubricant which is safe for rubber, not sticky, quick drying, etc... to coat the place where the cable and resin touch, that way bass can still exhaust if needed
