I am classically trained professional violinist for 15 years.
I play for two different orchestras and every year we play Handel's Messiah at church and ASG-1 is amazing at reproducing live feeling of this music.
Just listening to live recording of Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique by LA Phil/ Gustavo Dudamel, timbre of strings so accurately portrayed/ not too aggressive.
Very good dynamics with thumping timpani parts and wide and deep sound-stage..
I occasionally hear coughing from the audience and I can almost pin point where they are seated. Amazing!

Since you're not a vocalist, You are gonna love the benefit from moving from the ASG-1's which are meant for stage monitoring to the ASG-2's. I highly suggest you do this when the option comes about. I've been hearing some ridiculous things from live recordings and have definitely been able to pin-point where people are seated and where every instrument is when I listen to all types of live music but especially classical music.

But your ears will absolutely adore you. Trust me on this one.

I've been taking my time working on a review for them as it's taken me so long to get to things i should be listening to to test them because i listen once, like it so much i move to other things i really wanna hear. I have become so used to the sound signature I instantly can tell how a song will sound on the AS-2's and it's a terrible ability since I end up listening to everything and anything at all times of day.......maybe that's not a bad thing.......only issue with the AS-2's is that it would hurt to superglue them to my ears, and that they are quite revealing. I instantly can tell when i have a file that's poorly recorded and also when it is of low quality. since I got the AS-2's my music went from being mostly 250kbps and 192 kbps mp3's to mostly lossless tracks, 320kbps mp3's and some 256kbps mp3's taking up the majority of my collection as a whole. Thank god I own almost all my music on CD. IT took a very long time to do that though.

So I am a classically trained vocalist - should I get the 1.2 to try it - since I'm dying to hear it - and upgrade or wait until the 2 comes out?  I was really hoping to get to Nashville next weekend for the $110 plane ticket I didn't jump on is gone.  I can still drive - and might to get away for a day.  Everything everyone is saying just really has me wanting to get these.

Most definitely. And you know who to contact to take the PFE off your hands...

Your account say's you're in Ohio. Definitely worth the 10 bucks to at least have the ASG-1.2's. as the ASG-2's wont be out for a while.

That all said, if you have the means to get the AS-2's, which you may find easy once the price is out (not sure on price point, but whatever it is, i can tell you it's worth it, especially since what i do know about price is that it's competitive with others in it's class), that you should definitely jump at the opportunity to hear them and enjoy their wonderfulness. I've talked to Dale many times about how much I enjoy the AS-2's, and each time it's because of another element I have come to realize about the design and care that went into making them sound and feel and look the way they do. I went from having a hard time getting them in and out to being able to do both within 30 seconds of time and while i am sure that this isn't something new to CIEM's, it's definitely opened up the possibility to pop in the AS-2's at every convenience and start bouncing around to the wonderful music as i go about my day.

LOL.  I do have a tumultuous relationship with them but now that I've found the Sony hybrids that came with my A865 work perfect I don't know that they're going anywhere for the moment.

If you're looking for a good deal, mine are going up for sale as soon as the mg7's I bought arrive in the mail. They have between 60-80 hours on them. Looking to get $125. I love them when EQ'd but I do most of my listening on MOG mobile where I can't EQ them.

My girlfriend is a classically trained vocalist and she LOVED the ASG-1, I would have bought her a pair if they weren't too big for her ears. She loved the "shouty" mids; she said they sounded "raw" and she liked that.

How about a pair of AS-1? Sure they're $100 more, but if you put it that way, it's worth it.

i'm a bit confused.. i have the asg-1.. can it be converted to the as-2?

it seems the as-2 is a universal? what's the difference between as-2 and asg-2 or is the as-2 the asg-2 we have all been waiting for...

ASG-1 can be converted to the ASG-2 when the time comes.

AS-2 is customs(Aurisonics 2) vs the ASG-2 (Aurisonics Generic 2) ASG-2 is the generic model of the AS-2 and the ASG-1 cannot be upgraded to the custom AS-2

Well I think the size of the phones in general was too big, drivers on these things are pretty huge so I doubt the customs would be smaller :/

Might want to talk to Dale about it. You never know. It would be sick to hear some more feedback from those how actually use the AS-1/ASG-1 for their designed purpose.

Here's what Dale said:

Quote Dale Lott:
We have not run across any ears yet that we cannot fit the 15mm driver in with some finessing as they are each designed for a custom fit in even very small ears. They even fit my 11 year old daughters tiny ears so I am pretty sure we can make it happen. The fit will be as perfect as a custom set can be.
