Sure, it's all good. But just so you know, always make sure that neutral, live and ground veins on one plug go to their corresponding places on the other end (plug) and you'll be good. Thanks!

Many tube preamps have this. I never used the euforia preamp function, but I had 2 dedicated tube preamps and always: Fist the power amp off wait till the energy has faded, after which you can shut down the preamp. Something else: Woo has no 7236 nor 5998 tube pairs left; all is sold out. Must we break the warranty and use KT88?

I am joining the club as I just got the Euforia AE. It sounds great directly out of the box. First impressions are that this is the blackest background I have heard from a tube amp, great mid bass, deep and holographic soundstage.

And now a lessons learnt for everyone….

THE STORY SO FAR:
1) Changed back to my stock tubes…Hum was less but not gone
2) Scratched the outside of the socket to get continuity…the maker of the socket has either put a coating on it or it had oxidized. Power cable now works as well as a Nordost Heimdall 2 that I tried. Hum was less but not gone
3) Changed my interconnect from the pictured XLR to RCA cable to a XLR>RCA adapter plugged into a simple RCA to RCA cable. Hum was gone.
4) Changed back to my quad KT88. Hum was back
5) Combined different tubes to see if there was a bad tube or a bad adapter. Hum was less but not gone. And then this…I either broke it whilst taking it out or it was the culprit.

Is there anything I can do or is it dead?
Can you by single ones or do you always have to buy in pairs?

The most telling is the fact that upon adding one RCA-RCA cable you get no hum, so it's worth thinking why. Just an idea for you, but your RCA plugs on your XLR-RCA cable are KLEI/ETI. The small pin point for the return signal among otherwise plastic bits may not connect properly to a RCA socket, and that may be the reason for hum. Make sure that the fit is tight and then try turning that RCA plug clockwise in its socket. Maybe this will help.

The missing pin on the Kt 88 is normal - it has to be.
The pin assignment of the tube specifies this.

My 6v6 tube also has this, for example, and it also hums a little with the adapters on the Euforia.
The hum is relatively quiet and only audible when no music is playing.
Your Genalex tube is therefore fine.

If you have a hum, it may also be due to the tube itself.
My other 6v6 tube hums a bit as well.

What helped a lot was that my power strip broke 6 months ago and I replaced it with the Audioquest Powerquest 3.
The power strip reduced some of the hum from the tubes and also completely eliminated some of the hum from the tubes that were humming.
As I said, not everything but some of it was reduced.

I think if you don't have any problems with the series tubes, you might have got a less good KT tube set.
There are also other tubes El34,6V6 tubes that are dead silent.

And if you could reduce the hum so far that you don't hear it in the music anymore but only when changing tracks, I would say you did a lot for it and got it reduced to a minimum.
So you could also live with it.

As already mentioned, Feliks distances himself with the adapter story that you use other tubes.
And maybe that's why they don't recommend it, partly because the Euforia is not designed for it, even though it "could" be.


Unfortunately, I can't say anything about your power cable.
The only thing you could consider is to choose a cable that is EMI/RFI protected if it is not.
In general, in my experience, cables that are EMI/RFI protected cause far fewer problems in the entire chain than cables that are not protected.

Another tip I can give you is to check the socket to see if the contacts are OK when the fuse at the fuse box is blown.
This is often neglected, as the contacts tend to oxidise or have been painted over with wall paint.
I had this happen to me once, for example, and replaced it with a Furutech socket. Since then I can say that if there really is a hum, it is 100% coming from the tubes.
Everything else I use is basically EMI/RFI protected cables that didn't cost an arm.
Audioquest,Isotek,Supra for example are not bad cables and do the job.
