FEARLESS Audio IEM's Discussion/Impressions
Sep 24, 2020 at 2:30 PM Post #4,921 of 5,204
I recently bought used S8F’s and think they would me my favorite IEM if pressed to only pick one. What do you folks think Fearless offers that’s noticeably an upgrade to them?
S8Z, S10, Acme 8??? I’m not interested in the Palladin stuff, Roland etc.
Do any of the current lineup sound better?
I’ve not read of any better Fearless options, other than perhaps the Dawn. I think that the S8Z is a different flavor from the S8F, and is not really an upgrade per se.

The Tequila reminds me of the SeeAudio Vantina (what happened to that anyway? It was suspected to be the same as the Anole VX.)

Any cable recommendations under $300 for my new S8F? I was thinking about the Satin Medusa II.
I quite don’t know what your criteria are, but for what it’s worth, I chose the Dunu DUW-02 for my S8Fs. It’s far more functional than the stock cable. The cable is soft and Y-splitter doesn’t weigh the cable down like stock does. The adaptors allow me to switch between 4.4mm for my DAPs and 3.5mm for phone and Hugo2. Sound wise, I haven’t compared them to other cables, but I like what I hear, so it can’t be all that bad, right?

You could get the Dunu Hulk. It’s convenient with the different plug options.

For much less, on Ali Express, there are:

- Yy (banned brand) 4 cores 5N UPOCC Single Crystal Copper Upgraded Cable

- KBEAR 4 Core 5N UPOCC OCC Copper Litz

With the Ali Express cables, I would wait for the next sale. The Yy you should be able to get for around $40. The two KBEAR cables you should be able to get for around $45-50.

TBH I'm not entirely sure what I want yet either because I haven't gotten my hands on the S8F yet. I know I'm going to need something with a 4.4mm plugto use out of a A90 and Lotoo Paw S1. I'm just trying to get some ideas for what purchase I'm going to make around black friday.

Yeah, I can’t wait to read initial impressions from those that get their hands on it first. With the S6 and S8, they produced some amazing all-BA IEMs for a great value. Now I really want to see what they can do with a hybrid. I’m thrilled that they kept the price lower by forgoing the Sonion EST drivers that are all the rage right now.

It this is truly an S8Z with an 8mm DD for bass, wow!

I am not the person really know how to read the graph like some of you does, but looking from the graph, the tuning is definitely toward the S8z, but even with less v shape or more balanced tonality, but the upper mids/treble doesn’t seems to be like the S8z as they claimed.
I do not think the Hawaii bad boy going to hype it a lot, just guessing.

You are really the professional :relaxed:
I think the treble will be more attacked or not that smooth compare to the S8z and S8f, becauseof the 4.5k peak, is it right?

It seems like a neutral-type tuning, with a gentle and modest gain, that could sound really great, but why does the treble plummet well before 8KHz and keeps dropping into oblivion? I’m more inclined to think that there is a glitch somewhere. The treble tuning would make no sense, and I like the Shure se846.

Please remember to disregard any >10kHz data on this graph since the coupler being used does not report accurate results beyond 10kHz.
