Exceptional in Every Detail: Say Hello to the IE 600

I think some people are focusing too much on the fact that the IE600 & IE900 use the same driver. Literally hundreds of IEMs use the same Sonion/Knowles drivers with wildly varying prices between them. The fact that Sennheiser developed the driver in-house drives up costs even more, not to mention the extra chamber, tuning & R&D costs, etc. The IE900 was also hit with a price increase due to supply chain issues shortly after launch, prior to the IE600 launch. I'm sure the IE600 was affected as well, but they chose not to increase the price so that created a larger price gap between the two IEMs.

I don't believe in the supply chain issue excuse to bump up the price by that much, infact the whole covid-19 & war excuses are wearing a little thin. The ie900 is & has always been available over here in Australia its just the typical price rise excuse that I am sure will effect their sales in time. I was not long ago about to purchase the ie900 but at $300 more I decided to buy other brands. The only way I would purchase one will be second hand from now on.

Just had a little win with the ie600. I've found that using the eartips first position on the nozzle gave the most balanced sound and best for comfort and seal. But it was difficult to keep eartips on this first position because they would naturally slip on to the 2nd position when pushing them into my ears.

So I have just took a cheap eartip from a chifi set and cut the core out of it, split in to 2 'gaskets' that now sit on the 2nd position, allowing my normal eartips to stay on the 1st position securely.

Does anyone know the nozzle diameter of the ie600/300?
Not including the lip/rim (which is purely for retention purposes), a hair over 5mm.

I do the same thing but I bought some o-rings from my local hardware store to make it look a little nicer

Just wanted to share my impression of using silicone tips from ie500. Someone told they're better than stock ones.
I got them and compared side by side. What I noticed is that ie500 tips make the sound a bit smoother, they reduce sparkling and upper mids. It may seem more comfortable, especially for long listening, but in my opinion it cuts the frequency region where ie600 really shines and has advantage over all pervious ie earphones (that have sound profile with upper mids reduction). So ie500 tips really reduce the sparkling magic and kind of cut the voice and instrumental emotionality.
This my subjective experience)

Well written! Thanks for taking the time to make that comparison, as it is a popular "what if?" topic.

have been using ie600 for 6 months now, absolutely my favorite, but can't help but noticing some people are experiencing "sudden death" here, has anybody checked what went wrong inside? broken membrane or snapped cable or what and why

Just received these! Initial impressions are very positive.

The very first thing that struck me as someone who enjoys metal is how realistic the drums/percussion sounds, amazing!

My only initial complaint is that Sennheiser didn't go with standard MMCX connectors because I'm guessing you'll void the warranty if you remove the plastic sleeves?

You can try using the adapters if needed, which will plug into the IE600s, then use whatever you want on the jack end. I have these (both angled/straight):
