Counterfeits of the IE600 and IE900 exist?

I would say yes. No way these are real:

Edit:

On second thought, links removed so there is no confusion. Just search Aliexpress...

Yep, makes buying used or from eBay a real risk, unfortunately. To be clear, these are counterfeit.

The ones in your picture are fake?

It's just the photo from Aliexpress - "Copied IEMs for IE900". You never know, maybe it's a photo of the real deal, but the IEMs you will get certainly aren't.

Here is a photo for the fake IE600's as well:

To be clear, I haven't seen these first-hand, so no idea how well they are actually faked, appearance-wise... I bought my IE600 direct from Sennheiser.

🚨 If buying new, always buy from an authorized Sennheiser retailer 🚨 ...and obviously if buying used make sure it's a trusted source (ideally they can verify their own purchase).

Sennheiser Stay updated on Sennheiser at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

Just don't count on the certificate meaning anything. Maybe Sennheiser could offer a verification process?

Yeah this is definitely a discovery. I never thought they'd be counterfeiting certificates as well. Gonna study the receipt the seller sends.

I'd really appreciate if folks compared this against their authenticity cert. Here's what the seller sent to me. I'm almost certain those are fake now, given the fact that the signature is the same as @rlw6534 posted.

There is plenty of fake ie300 ie600 and ie900s on aliexpress. This is ie300 comparison.
The biggest give away is the fake ones case opens from right to left instead of left to right.
Also no serial number on box.

I don't think that's going to help. My genuine IE 600's (direct from Sennheiser) have the exact same certificate (different date - mine are dated in April) and have the same initials (ACO).

This may still work. I can try it tomorrow on mine.

Edit:

This doesn't appear to work any longer, although my box has the QR code and the holographic laser foil code as well. It just goes to a generic web page on counterfiets.

Yeah, they resigned from this system as it was way too easy to bypass. Thank you for taking a look at your cert for me.
Okay, in all essence used IE600/900 market is dead now. It is way too risky to buy, because even proof of purchase is quite easy to be faked.

Guys, making the jump up from the JVC HA-FDX1 and looking at which IEMs to go for. Would the Sennheiser IE600 be significantly better and worth it? What I want is a durable and comfortable IEM that is value for money as well, and whose earpiece grills won't soil up in a year or two and ruin it.

Better? Depends what you define as better? They will be different for sure soundwise. But in the technical front I think they are more or less equal.
