My beloved ER4s died and I'm in search mode. I loved the clean details and the isolation in noisy work environments the 4s gave. I used a Xin Macro 4 with bass boost and got outstanding performance for the cost of the etys. So in the $300 range, suggestions to consider that would let me remove the Xin from the rig and give me similar performance. As of now, I'm looking to just get another pair but want to hear from our portable crazies.

The foamies were the most comfy and provided the best bass. Your thoughts please.

Find a pair of er-6's. It should sound nearly the same as the ER4 but you won't need an amp and can use your dap's eq. Otherwise let me know what you find because I've got nothing lol.

The CK10, GR01, Heir Audio 4Ai, DBA-02 MKII are great buy and they offers good bass response with very detailed mids and highs..

R-50 or even the new T-Peos H-100 which is bright and analytical in the mids and highs with nice bass that's not over done. I think the R-50 would be a better choice though, when I pair them with my E11 on EQ 1 or 2 they have plenty of bass.

OK, you convinced me to try this. Thanks gang for your efforts. I am staying with what I'm used to. Too many positives so maybe this mod will tweak it enough.

Dampers are "Pass through filters" thus the term "damper."  Dampers do not "boost" anything, rather they subtract.  If one changes the damper to a stronger resistance level, you will find that the highs are going to be less prominent....  this may lead to a psychoacoustic sensation that the low have been boosted, but technically they have not.
 
If one wants clean, accurate sound with a touch of bass, one may want to consider the 4.Ai
