I was planning on getting a pair of esw9's but i realized i dont need complete isolation and definitely dont mind wearing around full sized cans. Does anybody who has had both think the esw9 is of the same caliber SQ-wise as say, the beyer dt880 32ohm??
Thanks!

No, I never tried DT880/32.

But I've heard some cans at that price range, and i found that it's hard to beat the vocal performance on ESW9.

I ever tried the DT880/250, yes it's better than ESW9 technically. But personally I will chose ESW9 any day than that 880. (note that song I like are: Vocal jazz - Acoustic - Pop)

It's all about sound signature, ESW9 has mellow sounding, smooth high, thick vocal, while DT880 has more pronounced treble (much easier to sibilant), reccesed mid which is I hate for vocal, better  bass quality wise, better staging and imaging too than ESW9.

For electronic music I prefer DT880/250 than ESW9 for sure.

Thanks, I think my plans have solidified, I will get the dt880 32 ohm, and maybe write a little review as there seems to be some disagreement on the degree of soundquality difference amongst beyerdeynamics' resistance types
