I live in Arizona, and we are just coming out of the monsoons. I notice that due to the wood, the sound will change due to the humidity. As it gets drier here, the sound becomes more open sound, the cups taking on a different quality. It is all good, humid or not and in HK, it is humid most of the time.

Heheh! In Singapore, @justanut and I have to put up with the elevated humidity all year round.

How do these compare to the Meze Liric? in terms of sounds but also comfort and drivability?

I'm surprised there hasn't been a comparison yet considering they are both high-end closed back and almost the exact price.

A few years ago borrowed the Empyrean for a day (I know, not the same). They're very different sounds to be sure, but there's absolutely no question I prefer ES-R10 over Empyrean. The deep wood cups grant a certain magic you're not going to find with flat closed backs.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to try solid silver myself, Which frustrated as I used to have that exact cable back in the day for my HE 560 V1

ES-R10 vs 009/009S

After A/B-ing all three extensively for 5hrs. The ES-R10 is the winner.

ES-R10 has more soul, body. Same resolution, detail as STAX.

The 009s both had better treble, sparkle and somewhat air.

R10 has that hollow arena sound as someone pointed out that makes it having a speical sound point compare to 009s.

So far the R10 is proving not to spend more than $1500 on headphones! that's the conclusion.

Well put. Sounds like you were there? I didn't even think about the surprise aspect of people thinking it was an OG R10. I bet that was a conversation starter. Hopefully it was received well. Can't imagine it wouldn't be.
