ES R-10 has landed! Shout out to fedex Sunday delivery
Too much going on with Da Bears football and following my fantasy team but spun a quick vinyl side, and these babies for whatever reason are just magical on my vinyl rig. Will spin some more music later tonight!
EDIT: packaging and wooden box is beautiful but not practical for daily usage and storage lol. The case is what I was using for my 800s previously

Does anyone know the name/part ID of the headphone connection is called? The stock cable is a bit short for where I typically sit when listening, and I have a bluejeanscable that I was using for my Elex that I’m sure I could have BJC reterminate if I knew.

They are Hifiman SMC connectors (like original HE6).Does anyone know the name/part ID of the headphone connection is called? Generally I find headphones with good soundstage open up more on vinyl. ES-R10 are definitely amazing on vinyl!

Congrats on the R10! It is indeed excellent! I have been really enjoying them off the Sony TA-ZH1ES and DMP.
SMC connectors. One thing to be noted is because is quite small, I have been told by a cable maker that not all cables will fit. I face the same issue as you do. The length of the stock cable is barely enough for me. Hence, I am using an extension cable which I had made to allow me to listen to some of my DD based IEMs off my desktop rig. That’s an alternative.

Thank you! Considering I actually have a decent 4pin xlr extension cable currently, I think you’re right and it might make sense just to use what I have, vs trying to have BJC jerry-rig some SMC connectors on this old Elex cable I was using.Congrats on the R10! Heheh! You can try. Just wanted to point out the challenge that the SMC connectors present. For myself, I’ve ordered some silver cable from AliExpress to try out. For a difference in flavour.Thank you! For a cable, I ordered one from Audiophile Ninja (too lazy to make my own). Decent prices and build quality is nice: https://www.audiophileninja.com/product/hifiman-smc/

Very reasonably priced! I emailed BJC and they are willing to look at reterminating my custom cable from them but they don’t have the SMC connectors at the moment. So would have to drop ship them there, then they would need to check if their MSA-1 wire Will fit.For a cable, I ordered one from Audiophile Ninja (too lazy to make my own). May end up going with the audiophileninja out of convenience.

I doubt that Canare cable is better than the stock triple-C (continuous crystal construction) copper cable though...For a cable, I ordered one from Audiophile Ninja (too lazy to make my own). Decent prices and build quality is nice: https://www.audiophileninja.com/product/hifiman-smc/

It is still early days of course. But I am very pleased with the punt on the cable. Nice dynamics, greater nuances and transparency. Overall, even more musical. The silver cable I ordered on AliExpress was delivered this morning.

Random question about “placement”. I find that there is essentially two ways that one could position the earpads and it appears to have a different sound. If you place the earpads closer to the front of your ears (towards your face), you get a more supraaural feel, whereas if you place the earpads more towards the back of your ear, you’ll get a more circumaural feel. Just curious how you all position and place the earpads in relation to your ear, I am definitely getting a more circumaural feel and sound which i like for these.
