I am currently looking for a ER4P to S impedance adapter, I saw the official ER4P-24 on the Etymotic website. It looks tad bit pricy especially after shipping. I am wondering would other custom made 75 Ohm adapters specifically made to convert ER4P to ER4S will sound the same as the ER4P-24? I've heard a friend's ER4P-24 on my ER4P and I liked the sound of it. I'm not sure if getting one of these adapters will be close or similar to it.

The 3rd one caught my eye especially since it'll be quite convenient for use due to the nicely crafted angle jack.

Has anyone gave these adapters a try and know how it sounds like?

Thats great. =). I wouldn't mind a cable based one too, I'm a little worried because of the relatively bigger jacks, that it may jut out or something.. But cable based seem to be tad bit expensive.

No, I remember EFN having tried some experiments and reporting that custom adapters wouldn't sound the same.

I think the problem is more on the fact that very cheap resistor can have +/- 10% tolerance. If the maker is going cheapo and didn't match the value first, you could get a +10% on one side and a -10% on the other.

Even cheap resistors are better than that though they may be speced with high tolerance. Batches will also generally err the same and therefore match. Probably more to do with type of part or if it's some sort of network instead of just an inline resistor. If someone has one of these, they can run a meter from one ch to ground and see if it's open or not to know if it one part or more per side.

For what I know, P-S adapter is just inline resistors on left / right channels

Also what I would expect but to be honest this should still be a bit different from the 4s. A inline resistor effects damping and at that end gives a higher impedence at the plug (source) end driving the cable so it's character is more effected. There's more than just resistance and efficiency here. As long as it sounds better, good enough.
