Day 3 of burnin and the bass seems to be showing up now. Treble seems to smoothing out too. I'll make sure I get a good 100 hours in before I know for sure how I feel about them.

Compared a fresh out of the box RP21 with one I have burned in for ~50 hours. Heard zero difference in bass quantity, or anything else for that matter.

Maybe they are burning them in at the factory now. :^)

How long is the stock straight cable for the RP-15MC? I tried looking at the specs on Equation's website, but whenever I click the link to take me to the specs, it never loads.

edit: After reading through a few pages, I'm reading that the cable is a bit long. It doesn't hurt its portability at all though, right? I guess if it's too long I could keep the excess cable in my bookbag where my iPod+amp would be.

I think I am going to order an RP-15 soon to satisfy both my closed and portable needs.

There's no reason a cable that is too long would hurt but one too short might.

Long will cover short but short won't cover long, that's what I always say.

i tried the RP21 with Beyer Velour. The result is horrible. I quickly put them off and put the leather back on

I figured out why I was missing bass on my RP-21s - it was the crappy headphone out on my Squeezebox 3. It sounds fine with my Zune with plenty of low bass, maybe not as much upper bass impact as I've been used to with my KSC-75s.

I really need to get an HP amp for my Squeezebox3 for home listening. I need something cheap -- less than 150 bucks (or my wife will kill me: "Why the hell would you need something that cost more than the headphones!). Any suggestions?

May I suggest a vintage amp? They can be had for pretty cheap on ebay, and you're likely to get something quite nice. I've got a NAD from the early '80s (it's a 3140) and I'm very pleased with how it makes the RP-21 sound (YMMV of course). Word is that Marantz, Yamaha, Rotel, Harman Kardon, Pioneer and other "higher end" amps from the '70s have pretty darn good headphone jacks, not to mention you can drive speakers pretty nicely with them too, if you're that way inclined.

How about the Porta Corda MkIII at $160. Or if you can find an used Musical Fidelity X-Can V2.

I'm thinking about either the ibasso T2, mSeed or the go-vibe 6. Which of these would match well with the Squeezebox 3 and the RP-21?

BTW, My wife would never let me get a vintage amp for the living room.
