Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)

Wow, nice set of tips!! Would highly recommend trying the Spiral Dots and Symbio Hybrid Tips. Found the spiral dots to have a larger soundstage and more rumble in the bass. Just received the Symbio tips today and I am REALLY LIKING them. They have the best of both worlds (final audio and spiral dots) in that the larger soundstage is maintained, bass is there but more controlled + the crispness of Final Audio tips is there and also the precision in imaging. I just find that the warmth and timbre of the Phantoms somewhat affected with the Symbio - might be psychological or due to first time effects but you also might not notice. In any case, definitely worth giving them a try.

Thank you. I get a similar sound with Spinfit 145 and the provided FAD tips, so I stick to stock tips.

I have a much less enthusiast opinion of the Mandarin tips. They are not comfortable to me, way too hard. Plus for cutting out 3M foam and putting it into silicone tips, the price is really...ambitious.

I was told it was a design they used back when they were Earworks. I could have had it the way it was now but they wouldn’t have been as flush. The current design has the 2 pin on the shell, not the faceplate like mine. Regardless I think they look great :)

Yes! This 2-pin design was standard back when Empire was called EarWerkz, and the bump was where they hid all the crossover components to make the internals as tidy as possible. I got a bit of a nostalgic vibe when I saw your customs, but they look excellent regardless! Always a fan of an all-clear design (especially when accented by logos here and there) and I sure hope they sound as good as they look. :D

I have just received the Lg X. but in the package there is no spinfit (red color) ear piece. Can point me where to get them (that has to travel around the globe again, sigh)

also Mine comes with Ares II+ standard. I wonder if thor II+ vs Janus which is more value for money ?

Hi everyone! My name is Devon and I am a new member of the Empire Ears team! I’m super excited to be joining y’all. I am a musician first - I am primarily a vocalist with both classical and contemporary background. I’m very new to the audiophile world and am looking forward to learning more about it as I go. I’ve always had a huge appreciation for sound; I also dabble in recording/engineering but just picked that up just a few months ago so I’m definitely still an amateur.

My favorites from our current lineup are the ESR and the Legend X. Feel free to shoot me a PM at any time with any inquiries you may have and I’ll get back to you ASAP. You can also reach me at devon@empireears.com and at 770-945-0065 ext. 1004.

-Devon, Empire Ears

I apologize that we no longer provide Comply or SpinFit tips - I will make sure this is reflected on the site. However, we'd be happy to send you a pair of Spinfits if you'd like; sending you a PM now!

Here are my custom LX’s ! They arrived Friday. Sorry I couldn’t get better pics - taken from my iPhone. All clear faceplate and shells. Mine look slightly diff from other LX because my ear canals were too narrow they had to slightly adjust the design of them for me. They fit and sound fantastic. I couldn’t be happier. Big thanks once again to Ethan for helping me with this all the way from the beginning.

If you page back through the thread a bit you should come across my Cerberus 3 which also have that style connector. What's interesting for me is that that style of connector is the only out of the customs I have tried that allow a nearly flush neat look. I'll try and stick up a couple of comparison shots at some point to show the differences.

Here you go, my right ear with the same connector that aaf evo has (in black) :-

and another from a different company, though regulars should be able to work out who they are from, just didn't want to get into trouble by mentioning a competitor on the ee thread! Here you go :-

So you can see the differences I hope. Despite the looks the seal is pretty much the same.
