I followed your posts about Odin, and your thoughts on it played a part in me buying it !😃

I actually thought it was an excellent iem, and I found the bass to be really on point. The amount of detail it had was incredible. I remember listening to Nils Lofgren and being completely blown away at the sound of him plucking his guitar strings. Sadly I just wasn’t able to deal with those forward upper mids. I was sad having to sell it but there was just no point in me keeping it due to that particular issue.
I did not hear Odin yet but your description of Nils Lofgren plucking his guitar strings blowing you away reminded me A LOT of my experience with Letshouer Cadenza12

Just checked the graphs and it might be the right IEM for you!?
Insane amounts of detail while still being musical and without those elevated upper mids

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve just checked out a review and it does sound like something I might like.

I would like to weigh in on Odin. I have the Odin FE. I fought with the perceived upper mids trying to make them something they are not. I changed EQ, tips , cables, packed them away a couple times and considered selling or trading them. Finally I thought… why not just use them with stock cable and tips exclusively for a couple weeks and burn in my brain. This was the answer for me. Now I don’t hear the “shouty mids” but more detailed reference mids and treble. Of course the bass is in a class of it’s own. Prog on!

Progisus, I had the same issues with Odin. I tried them out when I bought them, and really liked them. The more I listened, the more I noticed that the upper mids were really emphasized. They sounded very clear, open and detailed but maybe a little too much, bordering on fatigue. Oh man. I’ve tried different cables, different ear tips.

I went back to the original cables, and settled in on Azla max eartips. After several hours and several listening sessions (weeks) it started to really work for me. Not shouty, not overbearing. Not sure if it’s equipment burn in or brain burn in.

I listen with a Cayin N8ii.

I owned Evo and Odin at the same time and enjoyed both for different genres. Then I had to decide for one and had endless back and forth sessions, which I stopped enjoying at one point so I had to make a decision. I went for the Evo in the end since I found the Odin rather intense on the treble. but lovely for classical. Evo was less fatiguing, ideal for media on my iPad and the best for older, crappy recordings. Now you make me miss the Odin :L3000:

I recently got the Fir RN6. It gives emphasis to the low end. It pairs nicely with the Odin, since they both take a different approach. The combo is muy bueno! I would guess the RN6 is similar to the Evo. Never heard them though.

Oh EVO and RN6 are two different sounding IEMs. RN6 is FiR's take on a balanced/reference warm sound signature. EVO isn't as balanced in comparison to RN6. EVO was more of a sub bass specialist with not best treble extension IEM in my collection. EVO's dual W9+ and W10 BCD has a more visceral sub bass impact compared to FiR's hybrid conduction Kinetic Bass.

From what I've read, Raven will be EE's take on a balanced signature:

Hello To All The EE Lovers and beyond!! Its been a minute since I posted to this thread....I started my journey on head-fi here and my very first TOTL was the Odin FE. I then learned of the Traillii and all the hype around it and decided to sell my Odin for the Bird. I still remember when I first listened to the Traillii and my heart sunk! My first thought was, "I sold my favorite iem ever for this!?!" Then I started hearing what the Traillii was about and fell deeply for that monitor.....however there has always been a hole in my audio heart that was missing Odin and its beautifully addicting in your face personality and still to this day the best bass response I have ever heard. Fast forward more than 2 years after selling The Almighty Odin and having gone through a schit ton of iems in the TOTL realm...I find myself once again purchasing another Odin!!!! I am super excited to have this set back in my rotation and I am anxious to love them all over again. I am looking forward to the Raven as well, but I know it will be an all together different tuning and vibe. The Odin is its own and is proud to be just that! Thank you for reading, I had to share the excitment along with the journey.
I am with you, buddy. To me, the Odin is a classic and will have staying power. The upper-mids are a tiny price to pay for the near-perfect bass, overall balanced tuning, and extraordinary imaging and resolution. And I can either temper the upper-mids with EQ or good source synergy.

It was with regret that I had to let go of my Odin. I tried EQ, numerous tips and various cables and I was not able to tame those forward upper mids. It got to the point that I just couldn’t enjoy the music. Very sad but the best thing for me was to sell them on to someone who’d really enjoy them.

I had the same situation…
SP2000, ODIN and stock cable - These upper mids were not my taste and thought to sell them.
But now SP3000 and Effect Audio Code23 and Final E Tips i found something very nice ⭐

So I ended up springing for the Aeneid for my Odins (& U12t) despite a review or two that didnt seem to be a fan of the pairing. Maybe a bit of FOMO kicking in as well given they're not making any more ? :) I got a nice deal on it so that helped.

My goodness it's a thing of great beauty from an aesthetic POV. Have only spent an hour or so with the Odins & it today but I like what I hear so far.

I was maybe a little concerned about how the cable might play with the Odins upper mids, but to be honest the upper mids never bothered me & I actually like them. This cable doesn't affect them negatively, put it that way

Initial thoughts are bass is weightier, kicks have that real thud to them. I'm just tooling around with the SP2000 on shuffle at the moment so I get a good spread of different music. Haven't come across much in the way of songs with prominent top end yet. Mids sound more 'lush' (I'm not a reviewer so bear with my simplistic sonic descriptions).

But yeah, definitely the most noticeable thing straight out of the gate is the bass.

I'll post more thoughts if I get around to it.

Edit to add - I think the extra weight with the bass has a bit to do with extra thickness in the lower mids.

Have listened to some tracks with varying degrees of top end & found the following, which has me confused. Better detail retrieval & separation but notes seem to be fuller & have more texture as well. How's that supposed to work/aren't they kinda opposites ? :)

Using a 'naked' (nothing else in the chain) SP2000 with Final Type Es for reference.

After all this time, I still find the Odin stunning, sonically and aesthetically.

I picked mine up from @MusicTeck of course, a while ago. Thank you, Andrew, as always, for the generous attention to your customers.

I took these photos earlier today and had been meaning to share, so the fact that I am sharing them right after MusicTeck’s post is only a happy coincidence. 🙂

One more.
