Oh, I agree totally about the 8-wire, but it seemed like he wasn't looking to spend that much, so I figured the 4 wire was a decent price and would give him enough of an idea about how it affects the sound signature of the Legend X to know whether he wants to 'go big' later
I use it with the Eros II 4w and I think is a really nice match

Some photos of my Legend X
If you have a good relationship with Minidisc guys, they can arrange couple days loan of the EE cables. Anyway, if you want to try the Eros II, let me know, I'm in Melbourne as well.

Thanks alot for the offer! Needa spend more time with it to find out if I need more cable options lol.

Thanks Lyman1 for a really comprehensive reply. Lots to think about there. Yes, I’ve been over to the Eletech thread and also checked out the website. The Prudence does look good and feels solid and well made. I saw that the first batch of pre orders are about to ship according to Eric.

I have tried the Eros II but that was with the SE846. On those IEMs I thought the Eros II went too high in the treble for me. I also tried the Thor Silver II and the Lionheart, again with the SE846. My preference over all three of these was the Thor Silver II. I think I’ve read on a few reviews that the Thor Silver II+ and the 8 wire paired well with the LX. I can’t afford the 8 wire at the moment but I could get the Thor Silver II+.

There are too many options. But it keeps me busy researching and reading!

You're welcome. I just replied to a post of yours over on the Eletech thread, but I then read this one afterwards, which kind of answered my question :p

Can anyone who owns who has heard the Legend X on multiple DAPs give their impressions on which one is the best pairing? I’m looking for a highly detailed but not sterile and boring sound.

Cayin N6ii with motherboard A01 was really really good when I had it.

better than the DX220 that you have? From what I’ve heard about the n6ii is that it’s rather warm sounding and prioritises musicality over detail retrieval? Would you say that’s right? Oh and the DAP must have full Tidal support! My bad

SP2000 has sufficient power fully drive Legend X and bring out the best in the bass region. I do not own the SP2000 but have auditioned it and compared it to my DX200Ti.

If only I had that kind of moolah my friend £££. How did it compare with you’re Dx200? I’ve been looking at used SP1000’s to try and get a bargain but no luck as of yet.

Didn't get much time with it, but DX200Ti doesn't have enough power to drive Legend X and felt kind of flat to me. That's why I auditioned the SP2000, I was looking for something more. Unfortunately, it is not within budget right now as well :frowning2:

If you can get an AMP8EX FE, then I think it would pair really great with the LX.

Ahh I really need a balanced 2.5mm connection as that’s how most of my cables are terminated... would kind of defeat the point getting an adaptor. Amp8 is only 3.5mm isn’t it? I’d like to stay balanced tbh as I found it to be superior.... looks like the SP1000 is going to be the way to go

Nope to me the DX220 Ex with AMP 8 EX is one of the most complete setups, the N6ii is very good though. A01 is on the warmer side too whereas the 228ex is more reference. The warmth from A01 was great with the Legend X to my ears.

If you want a neutral DAP, the A&K SE100 is a great dap that helps balance out the warm tonality of the Legend X. Give it a try if you can.
