Yep, abalone faceplates (with gold wings) + clear shell. I've always (well "always", since I recently got back into audio) liked clear shells; I think it's interesting and artistic to look at the "truth" of what the device is, if that makes some kind of corny sense. We hear what's coming from it, but seeing the different kinds of drivers, the crossovers, the wiring—in some sense, that's the "reality" of the device, so it's awesome to see.
The abalone is also great to look at, but the thing that gets me to it is related to what I said before: it plays with light in an interesting way, and that makes it basically impossible to replicate with just a picture. It's not a static thing; it just kind of has to be seen to be properly understood (kinda like vantablack!). I'm super happy with how these came out.
