The Phantom and Legend X won against the four JH Audio IEMs, so they only have the U12t to beat when I get it.
Very interesting watching your journey. I gave JH Audio Rosie, Senn IE800 and IE800s, Tia Fourte and Now Legend X iem’s. I enjoy all their signatures at different times but the LX is the goto at present. Some say it is bass heavy but to my taste it is more like live. I listen to lot of prog and the bass is often a lead instrument and the LX gives it it’s due.

I just...I can't imagine spending ~$2k on a cable?? I can't make any sense of the physics of it. (Not really trying to go off topic here, but $2k!!!)

Probably a dumb question, but I was listening to my friends legend x tonight. Is it normal for there the be a series of popping sounds upon inserting the iems? Is this driver flex? Is this anything to be worried about? Was considering buying them from him...

Yes it’s normal and that is driver flex. Nothing to worry about.

Yep the crinkling noise is driver flex from the DD. It's a bit irritating, but manufacturers generally say that it's normal.

If it bothers you, you can usually pull up on your ear while inserting, then let go once it's in.

Re: the Legend X--I love how it sounds, and my sense is that the 10-way (X-way, har har har) crossover should let me EQ the bass and only the bass down if I ever feel like it's overbearing with a specific album or genre. I loved it with everything I tried it with though (hip hop, EDM, ~70s-style female vocals, folk, whatever the hell Death Grips is...).

The Phantom passed my Miles Davis test in that there was no sibilance or harshness in the treble. Legend X gets that test tomorrow. I am too exhausted to do it today due to getting up super early and driving home from vacation.

I've tried out my second hybrid in the form the Noble Khan. Sounded like a mix of the Phantom and Zeus. If you can't tell this makes me super excited for the Valkyrie and Wraith!

I am not a dad or grandpa, but is seeing this a message of which EE IEM to choose?

I just got the Zeus in, and after about 2 hours (+1960's 2 wire) it's an excellent monitor. Flat, but not reference or neutral, extended and clean highs. The bass is there, however definitely not as much as the LX or Layla's that's for sure. The sub-bass reaches low, but there's no rumble, it's there though. (I also recently acquired a PreSonus T10 Temblor subwoofer for my speakers, so I'm a little biased) Very wide soundstage. Not as detailed/accurate as the Layla, but I only have a few hours on the Zeus. Very impressed so far.
