EM32, EarSonics new flagship ?

Feb 17, 2014 at 3:12 AM Post #61 of 188
Whoa horsey... these impressions are making me yearn for an EM32.  How are EarSonics on the customer service front?

I personnaly had only good experiences regarding service... very available, friendly and fast.

If you're respectful they will be very nice and helpful. It is one of the best after-sales service I've met.

You guys made me decide about my next ciem. SE5way will get EM32 later on after I get Calyx M as a source.

Also, Tupac, thank you for great explanations. As someone who listens to rap music pretty often (especially nowadays I don't listen to any other genres anymore), I think it will be a safe choice for me.

Again, SE5way performs perfect with rap too. So I hope it won't be an unnecessary purchase. Especially bass and treble make me excited.

Please could you compare the JH13FP with the EM32 ? Do they share similarities or ?

No, I don't think they share any similarity at all~ They are very different.

JH13 FP is overall more upper mid/lower treble forward compared to the more laid back, fuller (lower mid forward) EM32, JH13 FP's treble extension falls short when compared with EM32's, the detail, imaging, transparency and resolution are better on EM32. JH13 present instruments slightly forward, so the clarity, brightness is a little better. Soundstage width is about the same, but JH13 is lacking depth compared to EM32. They both sound pretty smooth. EM32 is much bassier than JH13.

And more importantly, EM32 brings out much more emotions of music compared to the "cold boiled water type" JH13.

Neither of the CIEMs is neutral to me, though. EM32 is like a junior version of LCD 2 rev.1

I appreciate JH audio's tuning, but what bothers me the most is the imaging. I don't know if it's the technical problem, or it's just the tuning making the mid treble spectrum disturb the treble extension too much. Everything sounds like it has a piece of cloth covered on it, I can't "touch" the instruments or vocal no matter if it's bright, warm, forward, laid back, detailed or bassy. I feel like I need to breathe after long time listening of JH16/13 FP or non FP, specially with stock cable.

Tupac, would EM32 be a nice friend next to SE5way?

Although they sound different enough, I won't argue if people put them in the same category. So if you want something complement se5, have a look at something else ;)

Raaah, your description made me really interested in those. However that 2nd ciem day won't come soon. I gotta upgrade the dap first and it is gonna suck all my money so SE5way will be the lone ranger for a long while. I am just gathering information for future.

I also respect EarSonics a lot, I might give them a chance for my second ciem when the time comes.Plus, FitEar type acrylic filled shell sounds nice

OT; what kind of sound signature / c-iem you would suggest as a complementary to SE5way? 1+2 maybe?

NT6 or 1+2 or Stage 3 complements SE5 the best. Others like NT6 Pro, UM miracle  are also good~

AmberOzL, you disappoint me!

I would have thought you'd have learned by now that by the time you can afford a new CIEM (after you've got a Calyx-M), you'll also end up wanting the CustomArt Harmony, Vision Ears flagship, etc. etc. ....

There are too many my friend, my poor student wallet can proceed slowly and one by one

I didn't lose my interest on those but I am actually trying to figure out what kind of sound signature I will go after. Reference level flat-ish tuning or very bassy (both quantity and quality) with creamy midrange, polite treble or etc etc etc.

Do I really need both of my kidneys?
