Earsonics sm3 V2

Earsonics did the customs yes. I also preferred the look of the v1's, but I have to admit the v2 feels way better built.

Geruvah, were your customs done by Earsonics? Anyone else in the opinion that they preferred the look of the V1s? I think the V2s look very generic and boring, although the custom colour tips in Geruvah's pics make it look much better.

Any more listening impressions fellas?  I know ES has stated that both versions are suppose to sound the same, but you never know...

BTW Geruvah, the customs look pretty sick, very nice.

I've had custom tips done for my TF10s way back, and found the earphones stuck out from my ears more due to additional layer of silicone. Have you experienced anything similar with yours? The Earsonics could particularly be affected as they are designed to fit flush with the ear and so I've been reticent in getting it done so far, but the seal and comfort of custom tips is second to none.

I'm doing a lot of listening here using a few tips and a couple different sources. So I should have your answer this weekend.

really?

Yeah. It looked different than anything I've ever seen. But the clear shell fit my ears perfect. It was also comfortable, so I wasn't understanding why everybody said otherwise.

The customs don't let it stick out here. You can put your palm flat on your ear and it will feel streamline. The TF10's are built like the Super.fi 5 pros and THOSE stick out like a porn star's nipples in the antarctic.

Same as v1. None, really. dfkt says the digiZoid is actually the best you can do, but these will likely get worse with an amp.

Shipped from France as of yesterday, I doubt I'll get it before you.

I made a general statement about the fact that Soundearphones is now shipping, not that I ordered ... I'm waitin' on you guys/gals to 'view it before I commit to purchasing it at its whopping USD price: SM3 v2 = $430 vs. SM3 v1 = $300. Wow, that must be some upgrade -- an order of magnitude jump in acoustical physics. A watershed in IEM engineering ... to require an addit. $130 from its patrons. Heavens to Betsy!

BTW: I paid less than $280 for my IE8 -- as opposed to $400 from any best-price U.S. order house -- when they first came out in late 2008, but I ordered them direct from computeruniverse.net in Germany. I got the IE8s very fast, and S/H was pretty cheap.

If anyone has the new v2's ... how do they compare to/with Westone 4s?

Thanks!

1. Anyone upgrade yet? I have the sm3 v1 and they are painful to leave in for an extended period of time. The new v2 looks more rounder and thus more comfortable while sounding the same.
2. Can anyone confirm this?
3. How would I go and upgrade for the new sm3 v2?

I am also waiting for an SM3 V1 vs SM3 V2 comparison in means of comfort especially from someone who used to feel the SM3 V1 comfort decreased after some time each session. My ears start to hurt after about 90 minutes, then they need a break. So if SM3 V2 is more comfortable I would definitely like to pay the expensive upgrade cost just to be able to stay in SM3 audio bliss longer.

Of course I am also curious to hear whether there's a change in sound...

I'll be receiving my pair of SM3 V2 sometime this week.

I've never had a problem with the SM3 V1 fit or comfort and can wear them for hours.

I will however present a comparison of the two versions, in terms of Fit/Comfort and SQ.

I will run them through a Burson HA160D via USB.

I've managed to try out the V2s.

The fit was way better on these ears than V1 was, the shelling was larger than that of the V1. The seal was by far and away better than the V1 as well as the housing sat on these ears perfectly and hhelped the outer layers of the biflange I use sit in place.

The sound's a little bit different as well however. The sound sig was the same, but using the same tips (Atrio M series L sized Biflange), the vocals sounded more... diffused and subdued VS V1. That said, I think the V2 has better instrumental separation and soundstage depth VS V1.

Preferred the sound of the V1 myself over the V2, as the V1 felt more intimate VS the V2. The V2 didn't feel as personal.

Interesting. I never yet heard the famous Sm3's, but I'm very intrigued. Do most of you V1 owners experience the sound improving over time. I see to read alot about that. Is it possible the V2's may also improve over time. Maybe its getting used to the Signature, but there are alot of love for them around here
