....I doubt anyone would complain with how things panned out for DX90, and the bugs have been minimal, I personally was never affected by any bugs on DX90. So I say bring on the DX100 successor.

Consider yourself lucky.  Some of us went through a lot of pain with our DX90.  Things are much better now.  I'm a huge ibasso fan but after the DX100 and DX90 I'm learning that the ticket of entry is weeks/months or longer of firmware problems until things get fixed.  In the case of the DX100, the problems are still not all fixed with FW 1.4.2...but at least it's usable.

IMO this is what's holding ibasso back.  They know good sound and have great hardware at a competitive price, but the software problems turn off 50% of potential buyers.

^ Actually I was one of the first DX90 adopters, with the first firmware 2.0, and I still didn't experience any major bugs or anything annoying. Probably because I only used flac, didn't use cue, no tags, no gapless, no eq or anything else, just straight flacs. Or maybe I was just lucky.

If I wasn't part of this forum I would never even think that the sound changed from FW to FW. It's only the comments that people wrote down here that made me aware of a possibility in change of sound.

In any case to me, the change is very slight bordering non existent.

(about the changed sound from fw to fw) ...frankly this should not be the case!  That said, even if I am a  person with differentiated multiple acuteness (a kind of hypersensitivity without to much deleterious effect), some change seem to me so pronounced that anyone should be able to perceive them. and fortunately this is mainly the case.....

Like you, I only use .flac or .ape files....perfectly tagged...  and never had major bug. And after all the bugs remain as cosmetics...whatever. The fact is that the irregularity in the signature signal is completely abnormal. That there is set a few small adjustments ok. But at this point, no. Then release a new product without mastering at least that part, it would just not a very professional approach ... And it is true that one can not blame the iBasso team to try to do it ...

I'm with you Trance. I've been a DX90 since it first came out, use it as you do. I've had no problems whatsoever, and have only good things to say about the DX90 and iBasso.

Make things clear, I also love that tries to do the iBasso team, and I find they doing very well overall. And frankly, I think they are particularly honest. That's why I'm particularly fond of this brand. What I try to say as wolfen68 apparently, is that without mastery talent is vain. They have plenty of talent. And overall, with good will, I think they are on the right track.

OK for those who say the DX90 does not need an external amp, well i agree and disagree both .

I need a portable amp for the DX90 for home i have the LD mk III

1. O2 DIY
2. Cayin c5
3. JDS C5
4. I am really interested in the pure II maybe some day can't afford at all right now.

I ll run everything from the Gr07 c1000 to sony 1R-mk 2 to the senns 650.

I really like a added amp for the 650 but without one the sound from the Knowles drivers is too thin. the amp adds some meat and soul.

Help me decide. I am working on my own amp too hope it will be good enough by the time ill be done

I don't think anyone, says you don't need an amp with HD650. It will sound decent at low volume but an amp is a must for the best SQ out of it especially on high volume.

The amps you listed above only O2 has enough voltage/power output with a spare/headroom at 300 Ohms to properly drive HD650. But the tricky part is to have the correct gain depending on your source.

yup it worked plug n play. try to secure it with tape at the back, slight vibration on the cable will make the card unreadable by DX90

I have DX90 and O2 (it does not have to be DIY by the way - you can buy it assembled). I listen to Audeze LCD-2 through O2 and very much prefer this way rather than drive LCD-2 from DX90.
