My post was an answer to dcfac73's this post, and I've found only this lonely thread which can be counted as the second, with a problem which even me, Windows user, familiar with

I see you have the V6 Stage. I remember (sold mine a few months ago) that it had superb synergy with the DX90

I have a dac / amp ordered (RAL REX KEB03) I'd like to connect with my DX90 to use as a transport. The rear panel inputs are mini-USB and optical, shown below:

Will a  connection USB-micro out from DX90 to USB-mini into this unit provide OTG audio input, or will I need to run a cable like this below from the DX90 coaxial output into the KEB03 optical input?

The USB connection supports DSD whereas the digital / optical does not, but I am unsure what will work and appreciate any help!

DX90 has only coaxial S/PDIF digital output. No way to connect to your DAC with just a cable.

I may go with a powered converter / adapter. Will report back if I do.

I'd like to find a transportable DAC/Amp with coaxial input to use with the DX90, say <$500 usd. would have to work 110v-240v for world use.

iDSD micro and Ibasso DB2/PB2 work fine

fiio dac amps are an option too if aiming on budget value

I would go with Chord mojo even if you had to save a little more.  Well worth it and can be better than desktop DAC as well.  I use my Mojo Work (desktop), Home (studio monitors + desktop) and traveling with DX90.

Edit : and to add to that I don't believe anything is better than DX90 as a DAC for under $500.  The dual DAC in the DX90 is quite good.  You may benefit from a amp with line out of DX90.  But if you need a better DAC your not going to find anything under $500 that is transportable, that would be worth your money to upgrade to over what the DX90 already has going for it in the DAC department.

Sorry if this has already been asked/is a noob question...

When using the dx90 with my sm64 what is the optimal gain setting? Or is it just preference?
They are at 98 ohms, sensitivity 122

Same question for my Q701 at 62/105

I always prefer the low gain setting because it keeps the noise floor low.  You can crank up the volume to your desired listening level.  If you cannot reach the volumes you want at low gain, then that's the time to move to a higher gain.

That's just me though.
