MacBook Pro (2012) 8GB of ram, 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor but I guess that really shouldn't matter.

Normally it shouldn't. I downgraded to 2.3 and I don't have the pops. Do you have any issues if you change the volume using Macbook keyboard buttons?

Did you try to use the Mac volume control? The buttons at the top right of the keyboard.

No I didn't try the keyboard volume control, I thought you were having problems when using the DX90 volume control. I have Audirvana set so it bypasses the OS volume control (set to max) and only uses the DAC's volume for best SQ.

Seems like the new firmware is the culprit. On 2.3 (one version before the last one) everything works except for the Macbook volume control. I do not hear the pops no do I have the lag in audio playback.

Just curious, why are you still using Audirvana 2.0.6? Maybe the problem you're having was an issue with that version. Audirvana 2.0.6 is quite old and may not be compatible with El Capitan, 2.3.3 is current.

Just to inform that now the DAC mode works fine for me under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, it is well recognized without error by the kernel and I tested it with Clementine / ASLA.

Yes.sometimes when I scroll folders it reboots itself to starting logo.
