What are the chances that there will be a refined version for Japan like they did with the DX100?

Well, what did they refine on the HDP-R10...
 
 

1. Battery voltage -  partly in order to improve battery duration, and partly (I think I recall) to comply with Japanese regulations.

 

1. I think I recall them specifying OPA627 op-amps, but to be honest, I can't recall which op-amps iBasso used on the DX100, since they were obscured.

 
 
The battery voltage of the DX50 / DX90 is pretty much dictated by commercial availability of the Samsung cellphone battery (or 3rd-party equivalent), so I doubt there would be any push to change anything about the battery voltage this time.
 
As for op-amps...well...I suppose that depends on what iBasso choose for the standard DX90.
 
 
In short, I feel it is less likely that there will be a Hibino/Japanese special version of the DX90.

Can't say I'd want to pay that large a penalty for B-LO, personally...
 
(...but I do appreciate that you are trying to consider how iBasso might be able to squeeze-in a B-LO)

Well balanced out would also require the PCB redesign and I don't think this is going to happen. You could always have someone modify it but they would most likely charge you as much as the player costs, maybe a little less but I would wait and listen to it first.

Sure! If they replace it with USB audio out...
 
B-LO would be excellent, but I'm not sure I'd give up the transport functionality either. We could see more portable DACs using coax input. Or maybe Centrance will release a coax HiFi-M8 someday.

I got word from Ibasso that the DX90 hardware is most definitely final, but they would consider my suggestions for their next DAP. 
 
So, we're out of luck getting balanced line out on the DX90 but if enough people request it, I'm sure we'll see another DAP with balanced output from them

I do not have issue with this decision as I like the form factor of DX50. Hope there will be less teething problem at release.

Based on the name, SQ should be 10% inferior.
