damn people who just bought the ak100 just shot themselves in the foot with the release of this dap. same dac with almost the same price as the fiio x3.

Errr.... let's not jump too soon. Let's wait and see how the DX50 performs before we presume it to be equivalent or better than the AK100. As much as I abhor iRiver's greed in their pricing of the AK100/AK120, the AK players are nonetheless very nicely put together.

Actually it's quite easy to be better than AK100 (standard, no mod). It's a flawed product in my opinion. I won't be surprised if the DX50 will be better than AK100.
AK120, in the other hand, is a great product. I love their latest firmware with dsd support.

Oh, sure.

All I'm sayin' is let's wait and see, rather than jumping to conclusions.

Remember:

1) I dislike iRiver's attitude towards customers

2) I like iBasso's attitude towards customers

even so, I am not going to jump to conclusions about the DX50.

Well as I see it, Dx50 should compete at X3 level, and the only serious comparison of X3 and ak100 came out with the x3 being more powerful but less refined. So at this stage nothing tells me how to position the Dx50.

So far I read a lot of wishful thinking a very few facts, quite reminiscent of the X3 thread, which turned out to be a solid entry level audiophile DAP but not the new Messiah. I suppose iBasso can surprise us but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Sorry, maybe it has been mentioned before but are we to expect the dx50 to better the fiio x3?

Thanks
EDIT: you posted just 6seconds before me so.....there goes the answer I think

Well 50 is more than 15 times 3, so it should be better by quite a margin. This is what we know so far.

But the Dx comes before the Fi in Fiio, so alphabetically ....

oh, never mind...

that's all I know.

DX75, do you think it will come?

I think a DX100 successor may be more likely than a DX75, given the expenditure required for R&D + production for each DAP, and limited resources for such small companies.

But I'm happy to see either a DX75 or a DX100 mk.2!

DX75 would fill the gap in between.

DX100 Mk2 would be my dream device probably. Unbeatable sound quality of DX100 without its big cons like battery life, not user friendly UI, size (well the size doesn't bother me but most people complain about it).

I am hoping that iBasso's next step is making DX100 successor or Mk2 as you said. There is a lot of time for that anyway.

Stop speculating & categorizing.
Buy it, Try it, Like it.... if NOT return it. (That goes for anything you like)

The look & price of DX50 just puts it way ahead of other DAPs.

The sound... well that you'll know when you try it with the IEM you like.
