So why does an 8 year old LG V20 download to the same SD card at the same speed I get on a DX340 with UFS internal storage? I don't think the problem is with tidal.
Take Tidal out of the picture. Get list of files and copy to both internal memory and then your MicroSD card and time how long it takes to do both tasks using same files. Then put Tidal in picture and time the operation to internal memory and then to microSD. You can use Files app to do this taking a PC out of the picture as well. To have off-line storage on internal memory should not be a problem as we now have 256GB vs 128GB. I don't know if there is any difference in SQ if using industrial MicroSD like Swissbit vs internal memory. Swissbit has insanely high TBW rating.

One sold for $1300!! That seller lost a ton of money. Saw that listing. I already own 2 340s:)
Listen, stop pushing that $1300 number. You only serve to cannibalize our market. I am the lucky guy (the one who fortunately had grace, favor, Kairos timing upon me). It was a seller in serious distress... and we were able to help each other as our timing curves intersected. And I can promise you if I were to list it, I would list it at a price that reflects its preowned nature and its true value which is miles above 13. Even the seller deleted all reference to his own classified to preserve the integrity of the 340 market. So Please stop pushing that number threatening to wreck our market. I'm not selling, I love it, have been travelling all week with it..... And we ALL know by know that you have 2. It really doesn't need to be restated in every second post where every 3rd post is yours

Battery calibration of only digital/dap battery. DC 12 V in used entire time as I do not care about Amp battery.

8 hours for digital alone that means the DAP can last easily 8 hours. Nice showcase Matt
Just powered off now. I updated Pic. 8hr 35 min. I got 10 hours out of 320 before I sold it. Plugged into ecoriver to charge and already at 3%

Educated guess: because of the relatively slow Snapdragon 665 CPU, the older USB implementation, and the old 4.14.190 kernel. Contrary to what the marketing collateral may say, the Snapdragon 665 was a mid-tier CPU when it was introduced...in 2019. Absolutely sufficient for music playback and streaming, but not for much else i.m.o. My Samsung Z-Fold6 achieves 6/7 times higher Geekbench 6 scores.

Write to sd card is about 15 Mbit/s and drops significantly as download progresses.
Write to internal storage is about 90 Mbit/s. This is a rough estimate.

Fortunately 256 GB of internal storage saves the day with offline tidal.

And most importantly, DX340 is out of this world in terms of SQ.

I listen with IEM without using any gain, without DC, H1, volume level 28 - 38, most often 33 - 36, I like the sound best when powered by the built-in battery, or possibly a powerbank connected via USB at 100%.

Ran Disk Speed Test yesterday: achieved 814 MB/s read and 161 MB/s write speeds from internal storage. Certainly not bad. The weird thing is, UAPP seems more responsive when loading files from the SD card (Sandisk Edge). And - subject to controversy - music played from the SD card sounds better.

The sound quality of UAPP reminds me of Mango. I could say in a big generalization that it is clearer, brighter than in the tidal application.

But I also want to clearly emphasize that DX340 is the first DAP from which I willingly and without reservations use tidal, regardless of whether it is offline or online. Very pleasant musical transmission - a bit more analog.

Of course, as always, preferences, headphones, etc.

In Mango mode it is possible to delete the contents of the SD card by searching for songs through folders and when you holding your finger on any file or folder will pop up a menu in which is DELETE.
In Android mode I use the CX File Browser to manage the files.

You can download and use the Fiio music app from the Play Store.
