Allowed 340 to run off its own battery for DAC etc but with 12 V DC in so no Amp battery use and it was 91% after just one hour. I should get about 10 hours which is not bad. Local play only in airplane mode. No screen use for that hour.

I’ll try this next time, but I typically run Roon Arc which requires a WiFi connection. I’ll see what I get playing exclusively from the SDcard.

Wifi will drain faster for sure. I am sure there can be some tweaks to improve this. Ask @Stouthart as he is more an expert in streaming than I am. I don't stream so don't care. If I want new music I have app that will download it and save to whatever format I want. $30 for app. Copy over files to SD card.

Wifi connection has very low power consumption and battery life is almost the same with or without. I even noticed that the consumption in Android mode and Mango mode is very similar. More power is consumed with the screen on.

"pre-rooted" out of the box? Could you give more detail on this?
As far as I can tell, the DX340 OS is based on LineageOS, the successor to the popular CyanogenMod ROMs for Android devices. Only iBasso can confirm this, but I found a lot of traces. Most Android devices are completely locked down, LineageOS sits - by default - at the other end of the spectrum. Fun fact: the new streaming protocol from Auralic (LightningCast) is also based on LineageOS.

When an Android OS is built, it reads a file called "build.prop" that contains important build properties. Some settings in this file (dis-)allow certain runtime actions, such as remote debugging with root permissions (ro.secure and ro.debuggable). On a completely locked device, this cannot easily be changed afterwards. Good news for us: iBasso/LineageOS uses the most open configuration possible. This means that external commands, such as "adb root" (for remote/root debugging) and "adb remount" (for mounting read-only partitions) are possible. In other words - just like on a rooted device - you can make persistent changes to the OS. That is why I called it "pre-rooted".

I went one step further and "hacked" myself into the boot/init process. This way I can tweak kernel/network/filesystem parameters at boot time, similar to what I would normally do on Linux via config files like /etc/sysctl.conf and /etc/rc.local. It also allows registration for many system events...cool stuff ;)

Is there a way to stream Roon 😅

Don't think Roon-bridge is currently possible. But Squeezelite (can be used as a Roon end-point) via Termux is doable...have that running on my Z-Fold6 ;)

Holding my breathes for amp16 here 😅 i cant wait to see news about it lol
Oh yeah! Me too!
For now I'm enjoying AMP14 to the fullest and also AMP14 LO + PB5, bliss!

For which app have you paid $30? :O

(This is a crosspost as I've been sharing my journey with multiple people through a couple of threads)
So...just got my Clara's today! One of the best days in my audiophile journey that's for sure :L3000:

Findings so far are as follows...

Chain:
  • iPhone + Pilot DAC Dongle + Time Stream Duet cable 3.5mm + Clara = great sounding combo still, does the intended job and thank you very much for including it! (even though Pilot is really "poor" in terms of ability and quality in direct comparison with the rest of the DAPs) - great starter pack to be able to plug'n'play from the get-go, no need to buy more gear
  • iBasso DX340 w/AMP15 + PENON Totem Adapter Cable + Time Stream Duet cable 4.4mm + Clara = Waterfall hiss (solved by adding the iFi Audio iEMatch 4.4mm) - no matter the gain (hiss amped with higher gain / Super Gain)
  • iBasso DX340 w/AMP14 + PENON Totem Adapter Cable + Time Stream Duet cable 4.4mm + Clara = no hiss (very rare and shallow noise / imperceptible when not playing music) - no matter the gain
  • iBasso DX340 w/AMP14 LO + PENON Totem IC + iBasso PB5 + PENON Totem Adapter Cable + Time Stream Duet cable 4.4mm + Clara = some very faint background noise (goes up with higher volume but relatively negligible) when AMP is running, if music is paused AMP will go to sleep in a couple of seconds automatically
  • Will test with HiBy RS8 / iBasso DC Elite / iBasso DC07 Pro / iFi Audio Go Pod later on, so far I've been enjoying the last 2 pairings way too much to switch :)
  • Have also decided to grab the Effect Audio Roots Limited Edition 15 Years of Foundation cable to pair both visually and sonically with the Clara (dark mode on!)
Fit:
  • Best fitting IEM so far in my ears
  • I've been amazed to find out that Clara can basically fit in my ears with all the different tips that I have, and I mean (I have 103 pairs - some pairs have multiple sizes of course) - this is the first IEM that I've been able to do that with so far. Brilliant!
  • So far I've left the Divinus Velvet Wide Bore tips on - increases stage, clarity and adds depth while preserving the rest of the sound signature (lows, mids, highs)
  • Time Stream Duet cable is really comfortable and soft, great bundle!
Sound:
  • Amazing deep bass, bundled with rumble, kick, sub-bass/mid-bass...everything you need and want - it's all there!
  • Mids and upper mids are really great as well
  • Voices sound wonderful, to maximum reach with no sibilance - cutting it really really close to becoming fatiguing - need to test some more (especially long term listening) but so far so good
  • Highs may seem a little bit tamed/recessed (but not recessed actually), whereas it goes to the top but it cuts it down right at the spot where it may become to much - perfect cut-out
  • Crystal clear sound reproduction, with no bleeding in-between frequency spaces
  • There's plenty of stage: depth, width, height - depends on songs, maybe not the most, but it does a great job moulding on the song's requirements pretty much
  • I haven't sensed holography/3D effect yet (or barely?), need to roll onto some specific songs to test it out
  • Imaging is great
All-in-all, this marks the first kilobuck IEM that I have ever owned and dare I say it...the work, grilling and patience to get here, it was well worth it!

Firstly, I want to thank Campfire Audio (@CFA Chris) @Ken Ball who has paired with such a great musician @slumberman (Alessandro Cortini) and together have created this wonderful and beautiful IEM, at a fairly respectable price which comes bundled with such a great package 🙏

Second, I want to give my sincere thanks to everybody from the community who has contributed here (and in other thread) by providing early on feedback/impressions about Clara, which helped me identify it as a potential great pairing for myself. So far, all research that I've done into every purchase has been solely based on reviews, collected impressions, interpretation and matches with my own thoughts.

Unfortunately, choosing to buy a specific IEM/headphone/DAP/AMP/dongle/etc is such an impossible task to accomplish on your own, especially when you don't get the chance to test/trial it out beforehand, and as you are progressing through the hobby, and prices are increasing...the choices are definitely becoming more critical.
You don't get to buy kilobuck gear every single day (even though one would wish that could be possible on a daily basis, right? :L3000: ). With higher prices also comes great responsibility, even though that should be a norm no matter the price.

At then end of the day, every single one of us is free to decide where they want to put their hard earn money, and how far do they want to take the hobby.
All I can say is, try to live without regret and try to never look back on what could have/would have been...instead make your choices and enjoy the journey!

Once again, huge congratulation to CFA and @slumberman!
From my POV, this has to be one of the best, if not the best collab out there currently, and I urge you all to take a chance on it and at least give it a listen, if you can.
I can wholeheartedly vouch for it and tell you that you won't regret it!

For now this is my pause game

Disclaimer:
I am not a reviewer, I haven't been paid by CFA or Alessandro for promotion.
I am a passionate music lover and I enjoy discovering as many things as I can during my journey.
Everything that I own/have owned has been purchased with my hard earned money (still working on fixing my negative balance), and my thoughts and words are entirely my own.

Right now...trying to do it actual justice by playing Alessandro's latest album...NATI INFINITI
The bass is like a BULLDOZER, it crashes into you and then continues to push forward

The dark, deepness, rumble...it's all digging deep into your soul...great compositions, mixing and mastering :medal:

It might not be for everyone, depending on taste...but it's definitely something else that you don't get to experience every day...curious how this would sound in a huge hall with great sound treatment for revert and everything else...

I'm getting almost eight hours out my DX340 after running the battery through a full 100 to 0 cycle several times. Airplane mode on with Wi-Fi on streaming the whole time. DAC/AMP mode high. I disabled Google play. Left DAP on for two days straight.

I need to calibrate my DAP/Digital battery badly and now that it is flashed right I can. Amp battery will never be used as I will only use 12V DC IN with super gain so don't care about it.

https://www.amazon.com/EF-ECOFLOW-P...=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM&th=1 $60 off right now - $159 + tax!!!!

This is what I am using at home. This will also charge the DX340 of course can be used for power outages etc. The SQ is excellent. This is much better than portable power bank I have. I can hear the difference right away. I would love someone to compare with LPSU. I use EcoRiver just on battery. Not plugged into AC. Battery life is days before it needs to be charged. This is cheaper and potentially a more useful solution to LPSU for those that do not want to spend the money on LPSU. You just need cable that goes into 12V car Aux port to 3.5mm power jack. I ordered mine from Walmart as I get free shipping. This gives much better micro-details and layering and stage. Everything is taken to next level. I can see why @Whitigir loves his LPSU so much. The included power adapter for 12V DC IN needs to be thrown away. IT will not give you this quality off power grid.

@pmichaelro https://itubego.com/supported-sites/ I want to have my music locally and not be dependent on some stream provider yanking something one day.

Something looks fishy about that website and also about the app/software that they offer...there's no easy way to get to that actual app outside the link you have provided or maybe Google for it...
I've started building my offline library of course this year, bought some HDD to back it up so yeah it's an interesting development on my end :)
Right now I've bought 3 more albums from an artist I just discovered today at one fellow's Head-Fi'er's rec' :beerchug:

I have been using that app for a year and have no issues with it. IT works great for me. I like a lot of older trance and sometimes I can find a higher quality version online that I recorded myself or downloaded years ago. The app works very fast and you never have to deal with ads.

👍🏼👍🏼 I didn’t know slumberman was Alessandro Cortini. He commented on the L&P EA4 Amp thread that the Clara was dead quiet with the EA4.

Fallow up on my previous post with battery drain with 12v in

This is with zero use, full idle, new FW via QFIL, no Root, no tweaks NO 12v in this time

One day data point

Anyone tried the E3 with DX340? Looking for a “portable” closed back solution.
Listening right now to the E3/DX340 combo. Even without DC mode engaged, it's impressive. I don't think it's to its full potential but it's still a very enjoyable experience. I have a loner DX340 and don't have the DC cable but I'm guessing it will be even better.
