Hi

I know not the same league of the two players....but I'm thinking of buying a DX220.
Does a DX160 owner make sense to spend on a DX220? There is obviously a difference in performance, but the sound quality?
I have read in many places that the battery time is not correct and bumpy the software.(?)

Thanks
With the DX300 and DX220Max out you might be able to find a good deal on a used DX220 - if you are interested in saving some money...

I do not have the DX160 but did upgrade from the DX90 to the DX220 when it was released and also bought the AMP8EX when it was available (thank you again Vince and Paul!). For me the sound quality is superb with this combination and I have minimal incentive or justification to seriously consider changing (notice how I avoided saying upgrading). I have been following the threads for both the DX300 and DX220Max and it sounds like both are super and highly regarded by most owners. There are a few that have said that the DX220 sounds better than the DX300 - you can search that thread to read the details.

My battery life is about 5.5 - 6 hours which means I charge it about once a week or so and does not pose an issue to me. The other devices will give significantly more battery life if that is important.

Software wise - I think there are only minor difference between the different iBasso devices for most common types of tasks. This is one area where I would consider an alternate DAP but so far have learned to live with the limitations and lack of intuitive behavior in some areas.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tim

Regarding the batteries topic, someone tried the kind of batteries that are on AliExpress like this one https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ ? Are they enough good to don't break the dap? I mean, for a normal use it will increase the usage? Or its like carry a time bomb on your pocket? Any recommendation apart of the original one from iBasso? I would like to obtain a better autonomy

like this one
Such batteries with advertised capacity far beyond possibilities usually have far less capacity that the original battery. You'd better buy directly from iBasso or its dealer.

Im seeing that some people think the 220 has better sound than the 300... Of course that its just a subjective matter because the 300 should be better than the 220 but is there someone who can tell us more about this statement?

Hello everyone, can you please tell me if the DX220 with Amp9 can drive with good synergy the Hifiman Sundara?
Also how is the noise with Andromeda 2020?

Thank you in advance.
w/ Andromeda, no issue, NO hiss, i auditioned the 2018 version. V. @ 50 already loud (gain=low, amp9=low)

For critical listening on native files most preferably over the mango os player outside of the android, the 220 (w/ amp8 or amp9) will always be better than the 160. i auditioned 160 multiple times.
just use a very efficient IEM, very low imp. HP...
