Do you have a way to measure the temperature (like one of those infrared thermometers or even a touch probe type) and report what you are seeing? If you search back in this thread you will see a number of owners have reported warm (some may even consider hot) temperatures - including me. I have checked mine and see around 105°F max on the top panel near the power button after 20 - 30 minutes of use. With one of the earlier FW releases the temperature did drop down to around 85°F but went back up in subsequent FW (or maybe it was a fluke having the lower readings...) to around 105°F which I still experience today. So definitely warm to the touch.Hi everyone
just got this DAP and it's really great except one thing, it runs really, really hot. I kind of knew it was going to get warm but after 10-20 mins of audio playback it gets almost too hot to touch. I tried using lower bitrate mp3s, different music players, different AMP modules (AMP1 MkII, AMP8, AMP9) and tried both Android and Mango OS. In all cases it gets hot.
Yesterday I even loaded up Lurker's latest ROM thinking it would fix this issue but it hasn't.
So I'm wondering if:
- I have a defective unit or if this happens to all owners here
- if there are any tips/tricks that you have found to solve this
Thanks!
Following some of the other brands and their latest and greatest devices being released the warm/hot temperatures are not unique to the DX220. I look at it like this - high performance components, high power output/capability, etc will generate more heat. As others have said - better this heat be transferred to the case and out to the surroundings then be trapped inside to cook the internals...
Let us know if you get some measurements.
Oh - and welcome to DX220 ownership - enjoy!
Cheers,
Tim
