Can confirm hiss issues with AMP9 for my CA Atlas + CA Andromeda. Also I need to go on high gain and 100+/150 on volume where I'm usually only at 30/150 on the stock AMP.

On the flip side, does anyone have comparisons with AMP9/stock AMP vs the AMP8EX? If I prefer the sound signature of the DX160 vs DX220 + AMP 9, would the DX220 + AMP8EX be worth trying on my end (if I can get my hands on it)?
I would like to get an Amp 9 for the CA Atlas pairing.
I am afraid thought it will not be enough volume as, in some cases I go to 130/150 on high gain with Atlas and stock amp.
Also I fear I'll miss the balanced benefits the 2.5mm amp1 port gives.
But I would be hoping for the sound to be more bad-record forgiving and less digitalised sounding .

I agree with all the above. However, for me, I don’t find dx220 to be sluggish

I would go with ZX507, the new Walkman, but for everything that dx220 and Amp8 doing so well...I don’t have any reason to do so. I can switch between MangoOS into Android, find all the streaming I need by APK-Pure app right out of the box.....never any issues

the same as what I have here, the dx160....but for sound quality and performances, I still going to pick up DX228 combination anytime
For downloads from HD tracks which Audi format is better with the DX220? AIFF or FLAC. I also will be using the Dx220 as a transport to send files via optical to my external system that includes the DAVE and upscaler.

This effectively means that the SoC can't communicate with NAND flash chip.
As the last resort, you can try flashing the full image using bootable SD card, but with one change to the instruction: when you'll have the SD-card prepared, open sd_boot_config.config file on it with a text editor (Notepad is OK), and change the line
Code:
loader_update = 0
to
Code:
loader_update = 1
then save and use the SD-card. This should eliminate possible communication problems between PC and DX220.

Lurker, I really appreciate all the help.

I saved the full firmware image as sdupdate.img and transferred it to the SDcard. When I checked the config file 'loader_update' was already set to '1.'

I put in the SDcard and turned on the unit. It started to the updating process but then I got an error, and these following messages:

Is this a hardware issue with my NAND Chip? I don't understand how it could've just suddenly failed.

I have no other explanation. The firmware updater from SD card should have written the flash partition table, but then it can't find a partition. This means, the flash can't be written.

Thanks anyway, I just have no idea how the NAND chip could've been damaged. Everything was working great until the battery drained. This is the first full battery drain I had since I updated to the latest firmware, but I can't see how those things would affect this problem.

I'm going to take another look at the board later today.

I may buy a Campfire Andromeda. In addition to its stock 3.5mm cable, I've been offered to choose a 2.5mm or 4.4mm cable
I can choose the 2.5mm cable for using with AMP1mk2 balanced or 4.4mm cable for using with AMP8. But not both. Which one should I prefer ?

Used a leather paint spray, and previously cleaned the case with alcohol.

I would go for a 2.5 and buy a 4.4 adapter but its just my opinion xD

From the connection point of view the 4.4 has clear advantages, better contact and even more important it is physically more sturdy.

The worst thing you can do with a 2.5mm socket is to plug a big and heavy plug with a not very flexible cable in it. This puts a lot of force on the tiny 2.5 socket.

The AMP1mk2 should have a 4.4 balanced port instead of the 2.5, this design decision i can't understand.
